BRITTANY BEERS - 7 yo (1997) - Sturgis MI
When Jaycee Dugard turned up 18 years after she was kidnapped in
California, it raised the hopes of other families who have had children
vanish, that they too could someday see their child again.
It’s been 12 years this week since Brittany Beers vanished
without a trace from a bench outside of the Village Manor Apartments in
Sturgis. Police say they have tracked down hundreds of leads and a
thousand tips without success, but they aren’t giving up.
Sturgis police are teaming up with the major crimes task force
and the FBI to continue the search, review the old files, re-interview
the witnesses, to see if there is anything they missed.

This week marks the 12th anniversary of
the disappearance of a Sturgis girl.
The FBI and local police say they're renewing efforts to find
Brittany Beers. She was 7 years old on Sept. 16, 1997, when she was
last seen sitting on a bench near the apartment complex where her
family lived.
Investigators tell WNDU-TV in South Bend, Ind., they're going
back over the entire case to look for new leads. Sturgis is near
the Indiana border, about 80 miles south of Grand Rapids.
Investigators say they hope the passage of time will make it
easier for people with knowledge about Brittany's disappearance to
break their silence and come forward.

Sturgis Police seeking information from the community in Brittany Beers investigation
Written by: AdminBSnook
Sturgis Police are seeking help from the community as they and the FBI work on the Brittany Beers case.
The two departments are still maintaining an open case and open investigation into the September 1997 disappearance of 7-year-old Brittany Beers who was last seen sitting on a park bench near her home in an east side apartment complex.
Investigators renewed efforts this year by going through the entire case, seeking out tips and leads that may require additional work.
According to Detective Sergeant Geoffrey Smith, a lot of follow-up investigation and numerous interviews have taken place this year as a result of this renewed effort which is yet ongoing; however, no solid breaks in the case are reported.
With the passing of years and relationships, investigators are looking for additional information that someone is willing to share now or has heard over the passage of time. As part of this continued investigation, the Sturgis Police are asking for assistance from the community.
Det./Sgt. Smith is asking the community for information regarding a vehicle that could have been in the area at the time of Brittany’s disappearance. Police are trying to find information as to who would have owned/driven a maroon over crème colored hatchback style vehicle around 1997. This vehicle could have been similar to a Mercury Lynx, Ford Escort, Geo Metro, Ford Festiva, or similar type vehicle. Police are asked for the community’s help because this vehicle may have been in the area and the driver may have information that would assist the Sturgis Police in their investigation.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Sturgis Police Department at (269) 659-7260 (days) or Crime Stoppers 1-800-342-STOP.
