Rescue teams are continuing their search for a 13-year-old Hamilton
County teen in the Walden's Ridge area who has been missing since early
Thursday afternoon, EMS officials said this morning.

John Andrew Webster went missing after he got off the bus after school, said Hamilton County EMS spokeswoman Amy Maxwell.

He went home, packed his book bag and went in the woods and has not been seen since, Ms. Maxwell said.

Hamilton County Sheriff officers and Walden Ridge officers found his
hat and a pair of socks in the woods, she said. The search continued
overnight.

Hamilton County rescuers are searching soggy trails around the
mountaintop home of a teenager who has been missing overnight since he
walked away wearing a hooded sweatshirt and backpack.

Rescue teams are continuing a search for 13-year-old John Andrew Webster.

Hamilton County Emergency Services spokeswoman Amy Maxwell said dozens
of rescuers have already done a 20-mile grid search around the
teenager's home and found his hat and a sock. She said the
outdoors-savvy teen was "disappointed" Thursday because the rainy
weather interfered with a planned backpacking trip this weekend.

She said rescuers really don't know if the teen possibly left due to
the disappointment, or if he has slipped and fallen.

Hamilton County rescuers have found a 13-year-old Boy Scout who was missing overnight on Walden's Ridge near Chattanooga.

The boy's condition wasn't immediately available late Friday morning,
but emergency services officials said he was found alive.

Emergency Services spokeswoman Amy Maxwell said the outdoor-savvy youth
had been disappointed that a weekend backpacking trip had been called
off because of rainy weather.

An initial 20-mile grid search on the ridge had turned up only Webster's hat and a sock.
