A 37-year-old
man from Farmers Branch has been charged with capital murder in
connection with the deaths of a 30-year-old woman and her 10-year-old
daughter.Fionna Olander and her daughter, Korryn Threadgill,
both of Addison, were found Tuesday morning in a ditch near Post Oak
Bend, a community of several hundred people in Kaufman County. The
arrested man, Martin McKee, had dated Olander, who also went by the
name of Barbara, off and on for two years, according to James "Mike"
Olander, Fionna's father."This is a terrible, terrible nightmare and I want somebody to pinch me and wake me the hell up," Olander said Thursday. Olander
said he knew something was wrong Tuesday when his eldest daughter's
boss called and said she hadn't shown up for work as a technology
support operator at a computer company. His worry mounted when he
checked her apartment and went to his granddaughter's elementary
school, where he learned Korryn was also absent. He then went to
McKee's apartment to see if they were there. Neither McKee or his
daughter was home.Police asked Mike Olander to file a missing
person's report, he said. But when no missing child alert was issued,
he realized, "This isn't looking good. If they're not issuing an Amber
Alert, they must know something."The next evening, he and
Korryn's father, who declined to be interviewed, were asked to identify
two bodies that had been found in Kaufman County.Law enforcement authorities have not shared their theory of the crime with him, Olander said, and he hasn't pressed for details."Tuesday, my thrust was to find my babies," he said. "That's all I wanted to know is where my babies were."Pat
Laney, spokeswoman for the Kaufman County Sheriff's Department, said
the cause of death had not been determined, and it is not known where
the crime occurred. McKee and Olander had no known connection to the
area.McKee was arrested in Farmers Branch and jailed briefly before being transported to Kaufman County on Thursday.A
relative of McKee contacted in Oklahoma had not heard the news of his
arrest and declined to comment. But Olander said he was not surprised
McKee has been charged in their deaths."It seems to be the right fit," he said, noting that McKee has a criminal record. McKee
spent six years in prison for impersonating a public servant in Denton
County and a charge of retaliation in Tarrant County. He was released
on mandatory supervision in 2004 and removed from parole four years
later. The bodies of Olander and her daughter were found by a
local resident who was jogging with her dogs. Residents of tiny Post
Oak Bend are relieved someone has been apprehended in the crime, said
Mayor Raymond Bedrick. They've been waiting on the sheriff to make an arrest, Bedrick said, "so we could get some peace about it."The murders are the third and fourth in Kaufman County this year, Laney said.Peace will be a long time coming for Olander."This is not going to hit me completely until I get my babies put to rest," he said. "Then I'll have time to grieve."

Breaking News: Virginia Youngblood accepts plea deal for double murder
March 30th, 2011 4:32 pm CT .
Suspected double murderer Virginia Gayle Youngblood is now a convicted killer. Youngblood appeared in Kaufman County Judge Michael Chitty’s courtroom today for what was suppose to be a pre-trial hearing. Youngblood chose to accept a plea deal that was offered to her months ago by then Kaufman County District Attorney Rick Harrison. New D.A. Mike McLelland did not pull the plea offer but was proceeding with the intention of going to trial prior to the March 30, 2011 hearing.
The 50-year-old Youngblood was accused of participating in the murders of 30-year-old Fionna Olander and Fiona’s 10-year-old daughter Korryn Threadgill. Her accomplice Martin McKee was previously convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murders. The murders are believed to have occurred on November 8, 2009 in Addison, Texas, but the victim’s bodies were transported by McKee and Youngblood into Kaufman County where they were dumped in a ditch. The victim’s bodies were found on November 10, 2009 near Post Oak Bend.
Prior to the hearing, Youngblood was escorted into the courtroom by two Kaufman County deputies. She appeared tired and disheveled in her striped county issued prisoner jumpsuit. Youngblood was escorted out of the courtroom temporarily to discuss the plea deal. When she was brought back in, she appeared to have a smirk on her face, seeming pleased at what was to transpire in the courtroom. The grin did not last long as she approached the bench with her attorney to confirm to Judge Chitty that she was in fact guilty of murdering Fionna Olander and Korryn Threadgill. She told the judge she understood she was waving her right to appeal and that her sentence would be 25 years in prison, with credit for time already served. She will be eligible for parole in approximately 12 years.
Virginia Youngblood chose not to make a statement to the judge or the victim’s family members who were in the courtroom. Family members of Fionna Olander and Korryn Threadgill were given the opportunity to make a statement to the courtroom and specifically to Youngblood. The first to speak was Fionna’s uncle, Danny Cummins, who gave an emotional statement after telling Youngblood to look him in the eyes. Youngblood refused to look at him as he asked her why she had killed Fionna and Korryn and what she was thinking about as she drove around with their bodies in the back of the truck. He called Youngblood a selfish, deceiving drug user.
Korryn’s father, Brian Threadgill spoke next, describing his young daughter lovingly. He then told Youngblood, “Nothing will ever replace Korryn. I want you to know that your evil black heart and your selfishness has taken away one of God’s miracles.” Fionna’s father, Mike Olander was the last to speak and he told Youngblood, “My daughter was scared to death of you, and I guess she had every right to be.” He went on to let Youngblood know that he will be at every single one of her future parole hearings to assure that she spends all of her sentence in prison.
Youngblood offered the victim’s family no remorse or regrets for her actions. She chose not to answer their questions of why she murdered Fionna and Korryn. After the hearing Danny Cummins said, “25 years is not enough for what she did. Even her own attorney knows her level of guilt.” Mike Olander said that he was hoping Youngblood would not accept the plea deal though he knew it was a possibility. He expressed appreciation to D.A. McLelland for keeping him informed and for taking the time to speak with him before the pre-trial.
