The Florida Department of Law Enforcement in Tallahassee confirms that
a girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found.
No details were given about where the 7- or 8-year-old girl was found.
According
to the Amber Alert, they thought the girl might be with two men who
might be traveling in a white van and that she could be in danger.

Port St. Lucie police have called off their search for a young girl who was reported abducted Wednesday morning.
Two
boys, walking to their bus stop at the intersection of SE Midtown Rd.
and SE Pinero Rd., say they witnessed two Hispanic men grab the girl
and put her in a white van. This happened around 8 a.m. The boys
claim the girl was kicking and screaming.
After questioning the children, police determined the boys made up the story. Investigators do not know why,
Port
St. Lucie Police spokesman Tom Nichols said, "We have utilized the
resources now on a hoax." "At this time we don't have any understanding
as to why the boys would make such an elaborate hoax... we don't know
why they did it."
Authorities had issued a state-wide "Amber Alert" to try and gain more help and information finding the child. That will be canceled as well.
Port St. Lucie police had dispatched officers to all of the schools in the city to take inventory of students.

Re: HOAX ~ "Jane Doe" - 7-8 yo - Port St. Lucie FL
Law enforcement from across the Treasure Coast descend on Port St.
Lucie after a child is reported missing, but hours later the truth
comes out and it was all just a hoax.
It started early Wednesday morning with two boys and a girl at a bus
stop saying they witnessed an abduction. After more than four hours of
searching, the kids admitted they lied.
Neighbor Eric Schopp has seen the kids in question wait for the bus
near his home. This morning they stopped him wanting his help stopping
a police officer, "What do you guys need him for? And they were like,
"Oh, don't worry about it, go ahead and go." I just left." He thought
they seemed kind of odd, "It didn't add two and two together and then
they said it was a spanish girl. I do all the landscpaing here and I've
never seen a spanish girl walking up and down the street at all." He
went on with his day later arriving home learned his suspicions were
correct. Port St. Lucie Police Public Information Officer, Tom Nichols,
says, "After interviewing the boys for quite a few hours, they have
recanted their story and said it was made up. It was a hoax."
Police say the kids say a little girl wearing a blue skirt and a
pink or purple top was grabbed by two hispanic males in a white van.
Police say the only credible piece of information is there was a white
van driving by. The rest like the blue skirt, pink or purple shirt,
good year tires on the van were made up. The kids say they saw a
similiar incident like the one they described, unfold on a crime
television show. We found the father of one of the boys and asked him
what happened? All he said was, "All I can say is my son learned his
lesson." One neighbor tells us, "If it did happen, it would be hard to
live with knowing that it's in my backyard." Neighbors can't believe
the commotion. They are surprised at the kids actions, but glad no one
was really in danger.
The two boys have been charged with a misdemeanor -filing a false
report. They must appear before a juvenile judge. We are not releasing
their names because they are minors. The school is looking into any
disciplinary action.

Re: HOAX ~ "Jane Doe" - 7-8 yo - Port St. Lucie FL
Authorities say two boys fabricated a story about a missing girl to mimic the plot of a television show.
Police did not release their names. Both were given misdemeanor notices to appear in court for filing a false police report.
The Amber Alert was issued statewide Wednesday morning for two men in a van who reportedly abducted a 7-year-old girl.
The
pair's story began to crumble after they were questioned by the Port
St. Lucie Police. By that time, the Amber Alert had been issued and
emergency resources dispatched.
The Amber Alert was canceled after the two boys confessed.
