The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office
received a report of a missing child during the afternoon of Sunday,
Nov. 22. Because this is an age group not typically known for leaving
home of their own accord, the Sheriff’s Office was taking the youth’s
disappearance very seriously, said Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kraig
Troxell.
Shortly after the report was received, Sheriff’s deputies and other
local law enforcement received a “Be on the Lookout” notice” of the
missing persons report. Deputies began searching for the boy and the
boy’s family began putting up missing persons posters in the area.
On Monday, the Alert Loudoun system’s Missing Person Alert was
issued. This system is received by over 17,500 persons. Deputies had
also begun to expand the area of the search and were in the process of
posting more missing persons signs.
However, on Monday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office received
information regarding the boy’s location and a deputy located him in a
Sterling convenience store. “He was returned to his home, safe and
sound,” according to Troxell.
