Tucson police say two young sisters missing for eight days have been found safe.

Police
say the girls' mother and 2 of her neighbors have been arrested and are
facing charges in connection with the disappearances.

Police say
13-year-old Marina Padilla and 11-year-old Marissa Padilla were last
seen Dec. 1 at Pistor Middle School when classes dismissed. They say
the girls were found Wednesday afternoon at a grocery store and are
unharmed.

But police say the incident may involve a custody dispute between the girls' divorced parents.

Police would not say how the mother's neighbors were involved or where the girls were for the past eight days.

Authorities say the two girls ran away from home on Nov. 27 and were found at their mother's house.

Miranda Sue Padilla and Lydia Miranda
have been indicted by a Pima County grand jury Tuesday in connection
with the alleged kidnapping of Padilla's daughters.
The girls were found in a home across the street from their mother's
Dec. 9 and returned to their father in good condition. He has sole
custody of the girls, who are 11 and 13.
Tucson police Sgt. Fabian Pacheco said the father became concerned
when the girls didn't return home from school on Dec. 1. He thought
they might have been abducted.
Police investigated and ruled out abduction, and searched for the
teens. Their mother told police she didn't know where they were.
The teens were spotted several days later at a South side grocery store,
after police publicized the search for the girls.
Padilla and Miranda, her neighbor, were arrested on charges of
custodial interference and impeding a criminal investigation. They
will be arraigned in Pima County Superior Court on Jan. 6.
