BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Authorities
say a Georgia woman drowned her daughter, tried to drown her son and
then fatally shot herself in the chest.
Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering says Julia Murray called 911 Tuesday
morning to say she had drowned her two children and asked for an
ambulance. Police say the woman shot herself while on the phone with
the dispatcher.
A police officer found Murray alive but unresponsive in the house with a gunshot wound to the
upper chest. The 21-year-old mother was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Glynn County Coroner Jimmy Durden says her 4-year-old daughter, Ansli, was found dead.
Murray's 2-year-old son, Creighton, survived the attack and was in stable condition at a Brunswick hospital Tuesday afternoon.

A small pair of pink shoes lay beneath a red tricycle on the porch at 301 Baumgardner Road on Wednesday.

The shoes, splattered with a light coating of mud, likely belonged to a
"vibrant" 4-year-old girl who will never slip them on to go play
outside again.

The girl, Ansli Murray, was drowned in a bathtub by her mother,
21-year-old Julia Murray, Tuesday before the mother took her own life
with a .357 Magnum, police said. She shot herself in the chest.

The girl's brother, 2-year-old Creighton Murray, was also submerged in
water by his mother, but he survived and was in stable condition
Tuesday at the Brunswick hospital at Southeast Georgia Health System,
according to Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering.

As camera crews left the single-story house Wednesday, a silent and
shaken family withdrew into their home to grieve the loss of their
loved ones and to be thankful for a life that was spared.

"Right now, all we can do is grieve and try to move forward," said A.J.
Murray, the sister of Julia Murray, in a statement she prepared for the
family. "Our sole purpose now is to make sure Creighton has the best
life possible."

Friends and relatives of the family came by to pay their
respects and lend support during the day. One, a young woman, cried as
she held her own child outside the residence and spoke of Julia Murray.
"She was my best friend," the woman said.

A.J. Murray, who teaches 6th grade at Glynn Middle School, said the
family decided to prepare the statement and address the public in the
hopes of putting Tuesday behind them.

"I just want for people to know (Julia Murray) for the person she was and not how she has been portrayed," A.J. Murray said.

In the statement, she said the family had no idea what her sister was going through or that there was a problem.

"There were no warning signs, and my sister, my mother and I were as
close as any family could be," she said. "If we at anytime felt Julia
would have been capable of something like this, you can believe I would
have moved Heaven and Earth to protect our babies."

A.J. Murray lived in the house with Julia Murray, their mother Alia Murray and the children.

Alia Murray had legal custody of the two children.

Pam Pittman, supervisor at the Georgia Office of the Child Advocate,
said there is no history of the custody exchange with the Department of
Family and Children Services. She said it may have been voluntary.

"People don't realize that there are plenty of positive reasons why people transfer custody of children," Pittman said.

The arrangements for the woman and child will be announced by Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.

The family is in the process of setting up a memorial fund, according to the family's statement.

After a long pause without responding to any questions, Murray told the

said the call still haunts his thoughts. He said at first, he hoped the
call was a prank, but when he realized it was real, his training kicked
in."It was devastating, but I'm trained to focus on the task, and that's what I tried to do," Girton said.He said all the operators who worked the call spoke with grief counselors, which he said helped immensely."I
just closed my ears to it. I really don't want to hear it again,"
Girton said. "The call is in my head. I don't have to hear it over and
over again."

BRUNSWICK, GA (WTOC) - Family and friends of Julia and Ansli Murray are saying their final goodbyes.

Funerals were held in Brunswick on Saturday for the mother and daughter.

Four year old Ansli was drowned to death in the bath tub by her mother Tuesday morning.

Her two year old brother, Creighton was also drowned, but he managed to survive.

Twenty one year old Julia Murray then shot herself to death.

Family members say they don't know why the mother tried to kill her children and herself.

Julia and Ansli were buried together in the family plot.
