PALM BEACH, Fla. — Tennis star Anna Kournikova's mother has been formally charged with felony child neglect in Florida.She
was arrested in January and released from the Palm Beach County Jail
after posting a $3,000 bond. Alla Kournikova could face up to five
years in prison if convicted of the third-degree felony charge.Palm
Beach police say the 46-year-old left her 5-year-old son home alone
while she ran errands, but he escaped the house. Someone passing by
found the boy and called police.He told authorities he jumped out a second-story window, but was not seriously injured.Kournikova was formally charged this week. No attorney was listed in court records, and she had an unpublished phone number.

Alla Kournikova has been formally charged with one count of neglect of a child by the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office.
The Feb. 11 filing said Kournikova "did fail or omit to provide (her
5-year-old son, Allan) with the care, supervision, and services
necessary to maintain the child's physical and mental health,
including, but not limited to, food, nutrition, clothing, shelter,
supervision, medicine, and medical services that a prudent person would
consider essential for the well-being of the child."
Kournikova, 46, was arrested and jailed Jan. 19 after the boy was
found alone on the sidewalk, distressed and soaking wet, by a passerby
who called police.
Police said the boy had been left alone in Kournikova's home on
Seabreeze Avenue while she ran errands. While unsupervised, he jumped
out a second-story window, then went in the pool because, he said, his
feet hurt.
Allan received a medical checkup, then went to stay with relatives.
Alla Kournikova was released from jail that same night on $3,000 bond.
An investigation by the Florida Department of Children and Families is continuing.
