Ovie I wonder if the fact that 2 counties are involved here is creating a hot mess.

Has any one ever heard of a case where some one has died because of others beating them and leaving them for dead in 20 degree weather? Where the athorities and everyone else knows who did it? When several agencies are involved, and signed off on it as a homicied, yet 8 months later no one has been charged and they continue to walk our streets. Free!!! where is justice???

yes sir or ma'am the local sheriff is. As far as the prosecutor I believe so, but no one is running against him.

Nope its the DA's office thats got the hold up, it only took 4 or 5 months for the chief medical examiner to rule it a homicide. Then another 2 or so for 3 agencies (TCSO, HCSO, SBI) to do the same and now the DA's office dont even know if there will be charges they have not had a chance to look at the file. This has been about a month ago.

So, LE has turned everything over to the DA and they are stalling? does it normally take this long for your cases or are arrests made quickly?

Are the people who are aware of what went on, who was there, etc. calling the DA's office, filling out statements, etc.?

no most people are arrested the same day we have never seen anything like this around here. although the legal system around here dont seem to be the same one you find in the bigger cities. there seems to be a bad case of good old boy sendrom around here. yes the family has called and been gave the run around . over and over by every one.

ive heard that there where close to 75 kids at this party and that every one questioned talked except for one person even the other 3 to 7 people involved

wow - so they talked and still nothing has happened? i am surprised the local media isn't publicizing this - i have a couple reporters that i email here in orlando - are there any there that are known for digging into stories in depth? maybe if we all email them - you can get some answers.

Everyone has talked. The authorities know who was involved. The Assistant DA of Henderson County is "handling" this case, but claims to be too busy to look at it. Meanwhile, these killers are still free and intimidating anyone that they feel is a threat. Nothing is being done. It could be anyone's child, but I bet that if it was a politician's child, this case would have been over and done.

So the DA's office is the hold up. Placards and loudspeakers outside their office?

Just out of curiosity, what is Mike's Mom doing amidst all of this?
It seems that her ( and her attorney if she has one ) should announce a press conference and get this topic aired out. Can you reach out to her and see if she would be willing to authorize a grassroots group of townsfolk to seek justice? Her input is going to have the greatest impact on media and inhabitants alike.

Quite obviously nothing is going to be done as long as this is left at the local level. Perhaps Cooper needs to appoint a special prosecutor.

I suggest contacting Roy Cooper, the AG of NC and ask him why nothing has been done. Perhaps Jeff Hunt has a personal reason for not making an arrest. Is he friends with the families of the perpetrators of this crime?

That was just a secretary. I would suggest writing a letter. If he chooses to do nothing he will write you a letter telling you so. And why.

Filing a complaint with the bar is an excellent suggestion. They are under an obligation to investigate every complaint.

Something isn't right here and the only way to call attention to it is to write letters.

A letter to the governor wouldn't hurt either. Obviously no one local is willing to step in and speak up. The more letters that are received, the more likely this is to get action.
