"Baby Jane" ROTH - 8 months - Keenesburg CO
KEENESBURG, Colo. -- A Keenesburg father has
been arrested and accused of breaking both legs of his 8-month-old
daughter because she wouldn't bend her legs while he tried to change
her diaper, police said.Justin Brandon Roth, 21, is being held
on a felony child abuse charge. Court records indicate his family said
he has "anger issues". Roth is being held on $100,000 bond. The
incident occurred Saturday night at the Roth house north of Keenesburg.
The girl's mother told sheriff's deputies that she left the girl with
her husband on Saturday night when she went to work.
The injuries were not found by the mother until the Sunday morning when
she tried to change the baby's diaper. The girl cried when she was
touched, and her legs wouldn't bend. The mother called her
pediatrician, who told her to take the baby to Children's Hospital in
Denver. There, doctors said the baby suffered two leg fractures,
according to the Weld County Sheriff's Office. The baby also had
numerous bruises to her legs, collar bone, ribs and jaw.
Roth later told deputies that he didn't know how the girl was injured.“He
then said that while baby-sitting she started crying so he started to
change (the baby's) diaper. She straightened her legs and would not
bend them. Justin admitted that this was frustrating and that he might
have applied more force to her legs than he intended,” according to
court affidavits obtained by the Greeley Tribune. Both Jennifer
Roth and the baby's grandmother told deputies that Roth has anger
issues and that he has no patience when dealing with his children.
Roth was arrested Saturday and booked into the Weld County Jail.

Re: "Baby Jane" ROTH - 8 months - Keenesburg CO
A Keenesburg man with “anger issues” pleaded guilty Monday to child
abuse after he broke his daughter's legs while changing her diaper in February.
Justin Brandon Roth, 21, is still being held on
$100,000 bond, and his sentencing date has been set for Aug. 23.
He was arrested in February after his wife discovered their daughter's
legs were broken. The night before, Roth admitted, he was changing the
baby's diaper and she wouldn't bend her legs. “Justin admitted that this
was frustrating and that he might have applied more force to her legs
than he intended,” according to court affidavits.
The girl sustained fractures to both legs, but also had bruises to her
collarbone, ribs and jaw.
The girl's mother was gone that night,
but discovered the injuries when changing the girl's diaper the next
morning. She took the girl to Children's Hospital in Denver.
In Weld District Court Monday, Roth pleaded guilty to felony child abuse
involving criminal negligence. Although there is no mandatory sentence,
he could be sent to prison for two to eight years.
