GEOVANNY BUSTILLOS - 5 months (2007) - Albuquerque NM

An Albuquerque man has been convicted of killing his baby daughter.

A Bernalillo County jury returned a guilty verdict Monday
against 23-year-old Israel Bustillos on a single count of child abuse resulting
in death.

Bustillos was charged with killing his 5-month old daughter
Geovanny on Dec. 22, 2007. Experts testified during the 2½-week trial that
injuries suffered by the infant were consistent with abuse.

New Mexico prosecutors say a conviction for child abuse
resulting in death carries a mandatory 18-year sentence. They say Bustillos will
be sentenced at a later date.
