Authorities are looking for an Onslow County mother who became a
fugitive rather than get a job after being convicted of neglecting her
young handicapped son.
Christine M. Sweet, 38, was court ordered to find employment after
her May 2008 child abuse conviction. She has been on the run since July
2008.
She was convicted May 15, 2008, of child abuse and contributing to
the delinquency of a minor for leaving her handicapped son with a man
who caused severe injuries to the child including bruising and cuts to
the child’s face and mouth.
Howard Snodgrass, 39, of Circle Drive in Holly Ridge, has a court
date set in May on charges of assault on a handicapped person, child
abuse inflicting serious injury, assault on a child less than 12 and
contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Sweet is also accused of “allowing (her 8-year-old son) to live in
unsanitary and deplorable conditions and not supervising the victim,
who is severely handicapped, for extended periods of time” from Aug. 16
to Dec. 31, 2007, according to warrants.
Sweet lived in Circle Drive Apartments in Holly Ridge in early 2008
and was staying at an apartment on Old Maplehurst Road in the Southwest
area when she was arrested.
Seeking a court-appointed attorney, Sweet wrote that she was living
with friends and had no money on an affidavit of indigency. When she
was booked into the Onslow County Jail on Feb. 24, 2008, she was listed
as having in her possession a cell phone, car keys, two rings and a
watch.
N.C. District Court Judge Paul Hardison ordered Sweet to find a job
to support herself and her son and to follow instructions of the Onslow
County Department of Social Services.
By July 16, 2008, Sweet had absconded and a bench warrant was issued for her arrest.
Authorities believe Sweet spent time in Michigan recently, but may be on the way back to Onslow County.
Crime Stoppers of Onslow County is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to Sweet’s apprehension.

Is this the same woman?

Welcome to the blog Azilenam. It certainly does look a lot like her, but to me the girl in the pic you posted looks a lot younger. The perp is almost 40.

The woman in the picture says that she is 31 currently. She goes by the name Kristina M. (something else, not Sweet). The woman has admitted to me that she is a liar. She told my 19yo daughter that she has two children, but has lost custody of them. The children live in North Carolina and she lives in Texas.

To be honest, the woman gives me the creeps and I was trying to find out more about why she lost custody of her children. Then I found the picture of Ms. Sweet.

Yikes! Either way it's a worry Maybe you could tell her she looks like Sweet and see how she reacts. Or next time you see her tell her she looks 'sweet' today, while looking her right in the eye and see if she flinches

I do not live in the same area as this woman. She is friends with my dd.

It sure looks like her to me.

When a child is involved I think it is better to be safe than sorry. My opinion is that you should contact LE and let them decide. If it is not her, no harm done. If it is her, you have done a great service.

Err on the side of caution when a child is involved.

Well, I decided to send the Onslow county authorities the link to Kristina's Flickr account. One of her pictures shows a tattoo. Hopefully that will make it clear one way or another.
