Bradford County investigators are trying to identify human remains found in a pile of brush near a cemetery Monday.
Detectives working on a 7-year-old missing-persons case went to the Mount Sinai Cemetery in Graham, where a skull was found in a pile of brush, according to the Bradford County Sheriff's Office.
Dental records from the missing-persons case will be compared to the remains, Capt. Brad Smith said. He said new interviews in the case led detectives to check for an old brush pile near the cemetery.
The victim may be a woman in her early 20s who was reported missing. No other remains were found, Smith said. He said the name of the missing woman is not being released until the identity of the skull is determined.
He said if the remains match, the Sheriff's Office has someone already in custody who would be questioned further in the case.
The area at the cemetery was sealed off and a Florida Department of Law Enforcement team was called to begin gathering evidence this morning. No other information about the cold case was immediately released by the Sheriff's Office.

Re: Pamela Kay Hall/Murdered - 24 y/o - (2003, found in 2010)- Bradford County/Graham FL
Human remains found earlier this week in a rural cemetery have been identified as those of Pamela Kay Hall, a woman who has been missing since 2003.
The identification was reportedly made through dental records.
As of Thursday afternoon no one had been named as a suspect in connection with the woman's death, although investigators reportedly had a "person of interest" in the case.
Hall, who had been living in the southern Bradford County community of Graham, was 24 when she was last seen alive on July 2, 2003, but was not reported missing until Nov. 3, 2003, according to the Bradford County Sheriff's office.
A skull and other skeletal remains discovered at the Mount Sinai Cemetery outside Graham on Monday were recovered by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and are being examined to help determine a cause of death.
Details about why deputies went to the cemetery were not being released on Thursday. However, Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Brad Smith said two efforts were involved.
Sheriff Gordon Smith recently directed his staff to take another look at cold cases pending in the county. Sheriff Smith also coordinated with Starke Police Chief Jeffrey Johnson and Union County Sheriff Jerry Whitehead to develop a multi-county drug task force.
"These two actions brought about new leads in this case, which resulted in the discovery of the victim's remains," Capt. Smith said in a news release.
Capt. Smith said Hall was reported missing by her late grandfather, Wiley Langford, who contacted the Sheriff's Office about his granddaughter, according to the missing persons report filed in 2003.
Langford told investigators that he had been concerned because he had not seen Hall in some time and grew even more concerned after seeing a television news report about a body found in Jacksonville.
Bradford County deputies contacted Duval County officials and determined the body found was not Hall's. In the missing persons report, Bradford County Deputy Wayne McIntire wrote that Hall had been living with her brother, Tracy Austin Hall , and her boyfriend, Robert Frederick Waring, at a home in Graham.
Tracy Hall told McIntire that his sister, who was a diabetic, had taken her insulin and clothing with her when she left in July. Waring told investigators that he did not know where Pamela Hall had gone but that the couple had not been having any problems and that they had simply chosen to break off their relationship.
A criminal records check at the time of Hall's disappearance showed she was wanted on several worthless check warrants, had a suspended driver's licence and was known to abuse drugs, Capt. Smith said.
"For the last several years, rumors had surfaced about her being a victim of a homicide, but there was no evidence to prove these rumors to be true," Smith said in the news release. "At this time, a person of interest in this case is being held at the Bradford County Jail on unrelated charges."
Smith would not identify the person or give details on what charges the person was facing.
"Efforts are being made in conjunction with the State Attorney's Office to conclude the investigation and bring any parties involved in this case to justice," Smith said.

For seven years Pamela Kay Hall’s body laid hidden under brush in a rural Bradford County cemetery.
Rumors that the troubled 24-year-old had been slain were persistent but unproven until officers found her skeleton last month using leads gathered during a prescription drug-trafficking investigation involving her brother.
Tuesday they charged her brother, Tracy Austin Hall, with murdering her in 2003 by shooting her numerous times in the head. His motive, police said, was that she took some of his drug money....

UPDATE: Pamela's brother was sentenced in Oct. 2011. He received 20yrs for 2nd degree murder. He is currently at Graceville Corrections in florida and is set to be released in 2029. Personally he didn't get enough . I personally knew Tracy, Pam and their family. We all grew up together and to think that he could shoot her and then leave her out in the weather for SEVEN years. I can't imagine what he was thinking... more or less thinking of what poor Pam was thinking seeing her own brother kill her. This is so sad. I am very happy that she finally can rest and that she got some closer. R.I.P. Pam we love and miss you!
