Unnamed 15 yo girl - Canton MI
Police are searching for a 15-year-old Canton girl who has not been seen since leaving class on Monday afternoon.
"She was last seen at Belleville High School. She was released from her
sixth period cast about five minutes early because she has a cast and
crutches. And no one has seen her since. It's just not normal for her
to just disappear from school and not have contact with anyone for the
last three days," said Sgt. Mark Gajeski with the Canton police.
Gajeski says the girl's family does not want her name released. She's
described only as a teen girl on crutches wearing a bright orange cast.
"School resource officers went out, did interviews and no one can
recall seeing her get into a car, walking away, get on the bus,
anything like that. We're trying to cover all our bases too, using all
the resources we have to help us find this young lady," said Gajeski.''
Anyone with information is asked to call the Canton Police Department at (734) 394-5400.

That's strange Tom. Why would they not want her name released? It's going to hinder finding her and I'm shocked that LE have agreed to keep it secret. Releasing her name may jog someones memory that they talked to her.

---Because she is a minor, it's the parents decision on whether to release it unless she were charged in/or was a victim of a crime.kiwimom wrote:That's strange Tom. It's not the choice I would have made either

Re: DEVON KROETSCH - 15 yo - Canton MI
A 15-year-old girl missing since March 1 from a
Canton foster home was found safe Friday afternoon in Eastpointe, where
she had been staying with someone she knew, authorities confirmed.
The two-month search for runaway Devon Kroetsch ended after Canton
police, working with Eastpointe authorities, found her unharmed in the
last of several locations where she had stayed, Detective Sgt. Dave
Schreiner said.“We’re
glad to bring it to a conclusion where she was found safe, unharmed and
she’s placed back into the custody of Wayne County juvenile
authorities, who will hopefully make a proper placement for her and
improve conditions for her,” Schreiner said. “She appeared to be
relieved by the fact that she didn’t have to live any longer as a kid
who was on the run and who had to endure the stress of being listed as a
runaway.”Schreiner didn’t divulge the identity of anyone
who was harboring Kroetsch, saying that criminal charges are pending.Kroetsch’s
mother, Michelle O’Brien of Redford, had talked briefly by phone with
her daughter Friday and was relieved that she was found safe.“I
can breathe,” she said. “I had been on autopilot. I didn’t even know
how to feel anymore. I have two other small children at home, so I had
to be strong for them. But I was so relieved to get that phone call
today. She’s doing good, and she was not abused.”O’Brien
had heard from her daughter a few times after she initially disappeared.
She has said her daughter had spent time in a girls home in Vassar for
behavioral problems before she went into the foster home. Kroetsch had
told her mother that she was safe, but refused to disclose her
whereabouts.Schreiner credited Canton Police Detective
Mike Wells with helping to locate Kroetsch by following up on tips about
her whereabouts.“It was through his work that we were
able to pin down her location and find her,” Schreiner said.Kroetsch
had changed her hair color in an attempt to disguise her identity. She
was taken Friday to the Eastpointe Police Department, where she was
turned over to Wayne County authorities. O’Brien said her daughter was
facing a court hearing as early as the weekend.“She was
found at the house of an acquaintance and taken into custody without
incident,” Schreiner said. “Devon confirmed that she knew she was being
looked for. She was never held against her will and was not the victim
of criminal activity.”
Kroetsch had stayed in “at least four
locations” since she ran away March 1, Schreiner said.“She
did indicate to us that she had been on the run since the day she left
Belleville High School. It was her choice to run away,” Schreiner said.
“She did indicate that she ran away due to upcoming changes she thought
were about to occur with her foster care arrangements.”
