Re: ELVIA FLORES - 14 yo - Live Oak CA
Authorities are mounting a frantic search for a missing teen girl after
her friend reported being abducted in front of Live Oak High School.
The California Highway Patrol has issued an Amber Alert
for 14-year-old Elvia Flores. Elvia's mother told authorities that she
dropped off Elvia and her 14-year-old friend at school before 8:30 a.m.
Monday.
According Sutter County Sheriff's Sergeant Glenn Mercer, the 14-year-old
friend of Flores said they were walking toward the school when Flores
yelled, "run."
The girl told investigators she was then grabbed from behind and pulled
into a car. She describes four to five Hispanic men being in the
vehicle.
One of them may have been tall, wearing a black T-shirt and black ball
cap with the word "NorCal" in either red or orange. They were reportedly
driving a large, light brown sedan.
The missing girl's friend told investigators she woke up in an open
field in Orland, about 63 miles from the high school's campus. A
California Highway Patrol officer picked up the girl and brought her to
the Orland Police Department, where her parents picked her up.
The girl told investigators she didn't remember what happened between
the time she was allegedly kidnapped and when she woke up in the Orland
field.
The girl's parents drove her home and called the Sutter County Sheriff's
Department, who sent an investigator to her home around 3:00 p.m.
Monday.
Authorities then contacted Flores' mother to tell her Elvia was missing.
A CARE alert was issued just after 10:30 p.m. Monday. When asked why
they waited more than six hours to issue the alert, Sheriff's officials
said they were taking the necessary time to corroborate the friend's
story.
Elvia is described as a Hispanic female, about 5'2" tall, 110 pounds,
and was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
Authorities have no reason to be suspicious of the
girl's story. Late Monday afternoon, they interviewed school staff about
both girls, hoping to gain information that will help them find Elvia.
They will be back at Live Oak High School on Tuesday morning to conduct
more interviews.
Anyone with information on Elvia's whereabouts is asked to call the
Sutter County Sheriff's Department at (530) 822-7307.

Re: ELVIA FLORES - 14 yo - Live Oak CA
The alleged abduction of two teenage girls from
Live Oak Monday morning first came to the attention of law enforcement
officials when one of the girls was found crying at an Orland gas
station about 3 p.m. Monday.
Orland police substantiated information from the girl and notified
the Sutter County Sheriff's Office that a possible second victim was
still missing.
Orland Police Chief Paula Carr said both girls are Hispanic
and 14 years old. They were reportedly taken from Live Oak High School
about 8:30 a.m. by four or five Hispanic men driving a large brown
sedan. One of the men was reportedly wearing a black shirt and a black
hat with the word "Nor-Cal" on the front in either orange or red
letters.
A California Highway Patrol officer from Willows first
contacted the girl when he made a routine stop at the gas station and
noticed her talking to a woman.
Carr said it didn't appear that the girl had been harmed or
sexually assaulted. She said the girl's parents picked her up in Orland
about 6 p.m. Monday.
Still missing is Elvia Flores. She is described as 5 feet, 2
inches tall, 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last
seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
The found girl, who was not identified, told the CHP officer
she'd blacked out after she was abducted, woke up, blacked out again,
and then found herself in a field near Orland before walking to the gas
station.
During questioning in Orland Monday, Carr said the girl was unsure
her friend was in the vehicle. "There may be more to the story, but we
believe these girls were taken under suspicious circumstances," Carr
said.
The CHP issued an Amber Alert for Flores for the Mid-Valley region
but could expand it farther as the investigation warrants, according to
the Sutter County Sheriff's Department. Anyone with information should
call the sheriff's department at 822-7307.

Re: ELVIA FLORES - 14 yo - Live Oak CA
A statewide search continues for a missing 14-year old girl who was
abducted right in front of Live Oak High School. Family members say she
may have been kidnapped as payback for having an alleged gang member
arrested.
Live Oak High School faculty and students are still
shaken up, after two teenage girls were kidnapped while on their way to
school, Monday morning. An Amber Alert has been issued for 14-year old,
Elvia Flores. Sutter County Sheriff's Office Lt. James Casner explained,
"One of the girls was recovered in Orland, the city of Orland, and
advised that her and the missing juvenile, Elvia Flores, were taken
forcefully from the high school, by five Hispanic male adults in a brown
colored four door Sedan."
One of the suspects was last seen wearing a black shirt and a black baseball cap with orange or red
letters on it spelling "Nor-Cal." Deputies say the Hispanic males
dropped off the other girl in Glenn County, unharmed, and she is now
back with her family. Casner said, "Possible indications is they are
still in the area. The area meaning the Northern California area. We
have been trying different ways to locate an area that they might be
down in."
Family members said that a teenage girl confronted Flores over an alleged rock-throwing
incident two weeks ago. Flores was punched in the face, and relatives said police arrested the attacker.

Re: ELVIA FLORES - 14 yo - Live Oak CA
The alleged abduction of two teenage girls from Live
Oak High School Monday morning went unreported until a California
Highway Patrol officer found one of the victims sobbing at an Orland gas
station seven hours later.
The girl, 15, told the officer she and a friend were taken off the
street outside the Sutter County school by four or five Hispanic men
driving a large, brown four-door sedan about 8:30 a.m.
Believed to still be missing is Elvia Flores, 14. She is
described as Hispanic, 5-foot-2, 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown
eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white
shoes.
The victim was found by the CHP officer about 2:55 p.m. Monday,
after she had apparently been dropped off in a field behind the USA gas
station on South Street, near Interstate 5.
She was turned over to the Orland Police Department, which
briefly attempted to substantiate her story, then called the Sutter
County Sheriff's Office just after 3 p.m. to report the information, and
advise that a girl might still be missing.
After an investigation in Sutter County, the CHP issued an Amber
alert about 10:30 p.m.
The found girl, whose name was not released, told the CHP officer
she blacked out when one of the alleged abductors put his hand over her
mouth. She said she woke up, blacked out again, and then found herself
in a field near Orland before walking to the gas station.
During questioning in Orland Monday, Police Chief Paula Carr said
the girl was unsure her friend was in the vehicle. "There may
be more to the story, but we believe these girls were taken under
suspicious circumstances," Carr said.
Carr noted the girl showed signs of having been through a traumatic
experience.
To rule out the possibility that both girls were left in Orland,
Carr said a thorough search of the field behind the gas station was
conducted. She said vegetation was found that had been flattened down.
Her department requested a fly-over of the area by the CHP, but it
wasn't possible due to the weather.
The girls were reportedly late to class Monday and on their way
to an office to get excuse slips when the alleged abduction took place
near the school's administration building on Pennington Road.
In a CHP report, officer Joe Stokes said clothing worn by the
girl found Monday was disheveled.
Carr said it doesn't appear she had been physically harmed or
sexually assaulted.
"She had a few scrapes, but that could have come from being in
the field," Carr said.
Carr said her officers attempted to determine if there was an
urgent need for medical attention, or if medical procedures might be
needed to check for sexual molestation.
When the victim claimed she hadn't been harmed, Carr called her
parents, who arrived from Live Oak about 6 p.m. to take her home.
A search for Flores and the suspects is concentrating around
Willows, Orland and Corning, but officials said the search area may
widen as more information is developed.
Authorities haven't ruled out the possibility that Flores was the
primary target of the abduction.
Sutter County sheriff's Lt. James Casner said no one has been
found who witnessed the alleged abductions. Anyone with information
should call the sheriff's office at 822-7307.
He said the missing girl comes from a close-knit family that is
trying to support Flores' mother as the search for her daughter
continues.

Re: ELVIA FLORES - 14 yo - Live Oak CA
The family of 14 year old Elvia Flores told News10 they believe her
abduction may be some form of retaliation.
Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Flores Monday. She and a
15-year-old friend were abducted from Live Oak High School in Sutter
County around 8:30am, according to the Sutter County Sheriff's
Department.
Flores friend was found last night and is now safe.
Tuesday afternoon, News10 spoke with Flores' mother, Monica Hernandez
and aunt, Irene Flores in Spanish. Flores' aunt believes someone
kidnapped the girl in an act of revenge.
Two weeks ago Flores got into a fight with another young woman.
Family members said, the woman allegedly punched Flores in the face
following an argument over a rock-throwing incident. Flores' family
pressed charges against the woman.
According to Flores' aunt, that woman is a suspected Norteno gang
member and is angry about the arrest.
Sonia Alvarez, a neighbor believes the abduction could have been "a
form of retaliation as they snitched on a gang member or so-called affiliated one."
Meanwhile, Flores' mother isn't sure who may have been involved in
the kidnapping. But, she emphasizes that her daughter is not involved in
a gang.
Sheriff's investigators said Flores was taken in front of Live Oak
High School on her last day as a student there. Her family planned to
move to Yuba City to get away from the problems in Live Oak.
Investigators said Flores was abducted by four to five Hispanic males
who were possibly driving a large brown four-door sedan with an unknown
license plate number.
One of the abductors was wearing a black T-shirt, and a black hat
with the word "Nor-Cal" spelled out in orange or red letters.
Flores has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a
white shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
Flores' friend who was also taken was released in a field. California
Highway Patrol Officer Tim Horwath said he was on routine patrol when
he spotted the crying girl just before 3 p.m. Monday behind a USA gas
station in Orland just off Interstate 5 in Glenn County.
"So I did my duty and checked on her and that's when she told me she
was abducted," Horwath said. He said he stayed with her until Orland
police arrived to take over.
The 15-year-old was very shaken up and was being medically evaluated
according to her older sister. The victim also thinks something was put
over her face because she blacked out. The sheriff's department is now
investigating the possibility that she was sexually assaulted.
"When we find out she was kidnapped, it was too hard to believe that.
It happened here in Live Oak," said the older sister. "We're happy
she's here, but we're so, there's half of us that are still waiting for
another one to get home."
As for Flores, her mother said she felt like her heart had been
ripped out. She pleaded with the abductors to return her only daughter.
Tuesday evening, investigators were following up text message that
went out from someone claiming to be Flores. Lt. James Casner with
Sutter County Sheriff's Department wouldn't reveal what it said, just
that it was to an acquaintance--an adult. The text was sent several
hours after Flores was abducted.

Re: ELVIA FLORES - 14 yo - Live Oak CA
A 14 year-old Live Oak Girl once believed to have been abducted is safe.
According to Sutter County Sheriff deputies, the teenager was found
walking down an alley near Oak Street in Gridley, Wednesday afternoon.
Detectives now believe Elvia Flores was not kidnapped by five hispanic
males, rather she voluntarily got into a car with two men. One of them
is possibly her boyfriend. TV Reporters sat down with Flores' family
Wednesday morning. They did not want to speak on camera but say they are
confused about how this all played out. They say they did not know
Flores even had a boyfriend. Investigators learned a great deal after
questioning Flores' friend, Elizabeth Felix, who disappeared with her.
Felix turned up at a gas station in Orland, Tuesday.
Deputies say
after Flores and Felix were dropped off in front of school Monday, they
actually walked from there to Evans Reimer Road in Gridley, more than
four miles away. Sutter County Sheriff's Office Lt. James Casner said,
"She had been texting her boyfriend to come pick her up and Elizabeth is
maintaining she did not voluntarily get in the car and was picked up
and put in the car, lost consciousness and then woke up in Orland."
Several
witnesses told detectives they saw the two teens walking and even
spotted some of Flores' books lying on the side of the road. Flores is
currently being questioned by police. She was alone
when she was picked up by Gridley Police officers.

Re: ELVIA FLORES - 14 yo - Live Oak CA
The boyfriend of a Live Oak girl who went missing Monday and turned up
over 48 hours later, has been arrested.
Hugo Antonio Anzures, 18, has been charged with concealing a minor and
contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the Sutter
County Sheriff's Department.
Anzures was arrested Thursday, and is being held at the Glenn County
Jail on $42,000 bail.
Elvia Flores, 14, went missing on Monday, but was spotted on Wednesday afternoon
in Gridley by police officers. When they approached, she ran away.
Gridley police soon apprehended Flores and transported her to a Sutter
County Sheriff's substation in Live Oak, her hometown.
In an interview with investigators, Elvia reportedly told authorities
she and her 14-year-old friend Elizabeth had planned to skip school
Monday morning and sent text messages to acquaintances to find a ride.
Elvia's boyfriend picked them up and drove them around, eventually
dropped Elizabeth off at an Orland gas station, 63 miles away from
campus, according to a law enforcement source.
When California Highway Patrol Officer Tim Horwath stopped at the gas
station and approached Elizabeth, the girl told him that she had been
abducted and didn't remember what happened.
Elizabeth later told authorities she had been sexually assaulted,
according to law enforcement sources. Both the abduction and assault
claims were false, authorities said.
The false report sparked an Amber Alert and a frantic search for Elvia,
who seemed embarrassed when interviewed by authorities Wednesday
afternoon.
Law enforcement sources said she seemed even more contrite once her
mother arrived at the police station and "lit into her."
Elvia's family was unaware she had a boyfriend.
Authorities said they are considering charges against Elizabeth for
filing a false police report.

contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the Sutter
