"Toddler Jane" WIGGINS - 2 yo (2010) - Walterboro (W of Charleston) SC

Walterboro SC ---- The Colleton County Sheriff's Office says a 2 year old girl is
in critical condition after she was apparently abused by her mother and babysitter.
Authorities were called to a home on 4th Street in Walterboro on
Wednesday morning regarding a child who was not breathing. Paramedics
had to resuscitate the toddler and noticed numerous injuries on the child's body.
Investigators eventually charged the girl's babysitter, 29 year old
Sheree Nicole Washington and her mother 24 year old Stanqwanner Shaneice
Wiggins with Child Abuse and Child Neglect. Wiggins was also charged
with Parent Allowing Another to Cause Great Bodily Harm to a Child.
The Sheriff's Office says the Department of Social Services has taken custody of the victim's 2 siblings and
that more charges could be forthcoming.

Authorities said a Walterboro woman will spend time behind bars for abusing her two children and also letting a babysitter abuse the kids.

Detectives said one of Wiggins' kids, a two-year-old girl, nearly died from abuse and neglect.

The Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor's Office said a jury convicted Stanqwanner Wiggins, 25, of child neglect and allowing another person to inflict great bodily injury to a child.

In June 2010, EMS were called to the home of Sheree Washington, the babysitter, because the girl was not breathing. EMS personnel alerted police to suspicious injuries on both her and her three year-old brother.

Doctors said the girl had a lacerated liver, two broken arms, bruises on her scalp and burns all over her body.

Judge Perry M. Buckner sentenced her to 15 years in prison.

The brother had a broken collarbone, sores on his face and scarring indicating he had been beaten with an electrical cord or clothes hanger.

The case against Washington is pending.
