The Harahan Police Department has issued an Amber Alert for
a 5-year-old boy who they believe was taken by his biological father.
Authorities are searching for Christopher William Campbell, according
to Lt. Michael Fejka, an investigator with the department.
Christopher has close-cut brown hair and brown eyes. He is 4 feet 4
inches tall and weighs about 50 pounds.
He was reported missing by his mother, Monica Campbell, Metairie,
after his father Christopher Scott Campbell, 37, of New Orleans, failed
to return the boy after a weekend visit, Fejka said.

Christopher Scott Campbell is described as having blond hair and
light brown eyes. He is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 155 pounds,
He was last seen driving a tan 2006 Toyota Tundra with an Alabama
license plate that reads "CRITER."Harahan police are handling the
case because the Campbells used the department's parking lot, at 6441
Jefferson Highway, as the site of their court-ordered custody exchanges.
Monica Campbell turned her son over to his father Friday evening.
Christopher Scott Campbell was supposed to return the boy Sunday
evening, but did not show up, Fejka said.
After failing to contact her son's father, she tried to report him
missing Monday to the New Orleans Police Department. Officers there told
her it was a civil matter, Fejka said. But Harahan police stepped in
because Christopher Scott Campbell is in contempt of a Jefferson Parish
court-ordered custody agreement, Fejka said.
Monica Campbell also indicated that Christopher Scott Campbell is
being treated for bi-polar disease and has not been taking his
medication, Fejka said.
Christopher Scott Campbell has relatives in Dadeville, Ala.; Niagara
Falls, N.Y., Honolulu, Hawaii.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts if either
Christopher William Campbell or his father, Christopher Scott Campbell,
is asked to contact officer Frank Feeley or Sgt. Robert Swancey with the
Harahan Police Department by calling 504.737.4800.

A New Orleans man wanted for simple kidnapping in connection with the abduction
of his 5-year-old son was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Ely,
Minn., according to authorities.
Christopher Scott Campbell, 37, was taken into custody by a U.S.
Marshals Service task force at a remote motel near the Canadian border,
according to detective Robert Swancey, an investigator with the Harahan Police Department.
Harahan Police issued a warrant for Campbell's arrest after he
disappeared with his son, Christopher William Campbell, during a
court-ordered weekend visit. The boy is now in the custody of a
Minnesota social worker, said Lt. Michael Fejka, another investigator with Harahan Police.
Christopher's mother, Monica Campbell, 34, of Old Jefferson, was
elated when she heard the news."They found my baby," she shouted Tuesday afternoon.
Monica Campbell had last seen her son June 25 when she dropped him
off in the parking lot of the Harahan Police Department for the
scheduled visit. Since then, Monica Campbell had tensely waited for any
news of either her son or Campbell, from whom she's been separated for two and a half years.
"I have yet to really eat, sleep or be normal," she said just an hour
before word of Campbell's arrest arrived.
The Campbell's court-ordered custody agreement required them to
handle all exchanges in the Harahan Police Department parking lot, which
is why the agency got involved in the boy's missing persons case, according to Fejka.
Authorities tried to submit the case for an Amber Alert on June 29.
But according to guidelines,
the alerts are not used in parental abductions unless the child's life
is in danger, Fejka said.
Monica Campbell said was concerned because Christopher Scott Campbell
suffered from depression, bi-polar disorder and paranoid personality
disorder and had not been taking his medications.
Authorities received a tip that Campbell was staying at a motel in
Minnesota. Swancey said a local had grown suspicious of his s story and
found information on the abduction posted by the National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tipster called
Swancey, who in turn contacted law enforcement agencies in Minnesota.
Swancey said Campbell had turned off all of his wireless telephones
and was using only cash. He had paid for his motel room through July.
Monica Campbell said Tuesday that she planned to waste no time in
bringing her son home.
"As soon as they let me know where he is, I'm on my way," she said.
