A former Travis Air Force Base resident facing felony
child abuse charges stemming from the death of her infant daughter three
years ago will return to Solano County Superior Court in August.Judge
Donna Stashyn on Friday set 9 a.m. Aug. 27 for a further readiness
conference and possible pre-trial settlement in the case of 20-year-old
defendant Karla Lujan of San Diego.Lujan, who faces
charges of felony child abuse and assault with force likely to produce
great bodily harm, has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is free on
bail.According to Fairfield police and the Solano County
District Attorney's Office, Lujan was arrested following the July 4,
2007, death of her infant daughter, Jasmine, at the air base, where her
husband had been temporarily stationed with the U.S. Navy.During
an October 2007 preliminary hearing, it was revealed that an exact
cause of death was never determined for Lujan's 3-month-old daughter,
but that the infant had suffered multiple rib and arm fractures two to
four weeks before her death.At that time, Lujan's defense
counsel, Leonard Oldwin, blasted the prosecution's case, charging that
it had been built upon "false confessions and phony evidence."

At this point, court records obtained by mermaid55, indicate that the suspect, Karla, is still out on bail and being monitored by the Probation Dept. That's the best I can make out of their (the courts) abbreviations.
