CADENCE DAVIDSON - 2 Months - (2010) Avon IN/Birmingham AL
An Indiana woman has been arrested in Birmingham in connection with the death of her two-month-old daughter.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said Whitney Wilson, 23, of Avon, Ind.,
had been charged with child abuse. Investigators said the charges were filed after deputies
were called to Children's Hospital in Birmingham Sunday by hospital
staff. They found Wilson's two-month-old baby, Cadence Davidson, on life
support. Doctors told them the child had a skull fracture, a fractured
femur and healing rib fractures. The child was taken off of life
support Monday morning and died.
Investigators said Wilson told them the baby had been with her since they left
Indiana on Saturday, but that she did not know what had happened to
Cadence and denied hurting the baby. She arrived at her parent's home in
the Bessemer area at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday, and the baby was
taken to Children's Hospital at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Wilson was charged Sunday night with child abuse and the JCSD planned to
file more charges Monday. Wilson has two other children, a
three-year-old and an 18-month-old, who were taken into protective custody by DHR.

23-year old Indiana woman now faces a capital murder charge in the death of her 2-month old daughter. Whitney Wilson was already being held on a child abuse charge.
The infant, Cadence Davidson, was taken to Children's Hospital Sunday night at about 9:30p.m. The child was not conscious and placed on life support. The baby had suffered several injuries including a skull fracture. Doctors determined the injuries were from non-accidental trauma. Davidson died Monday morning, as a result of her injuries.
Wilson told investigators she had been driving from Indiana to the McCalla area to visit her parents. The child was riding with her in the car. She said she stopped along the way to give the child a bottle but, the child did not seem interested in eating. They arrived at her parents' home at about 6:30p.m.
Wilson denied harming the child. Deputies say she admitted being the only person who had been alone with the child. She is currently in the Jefferson County Jail on no bond.

BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) — A woman has been sentenced to 18 months of probation in the death of her 2-year-old daughter.
Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/1eWBW8P ) 26-year-old Whitney Wilson pleaded guilty to manslaughter late last week in the death of her daughter, Candence. Investigators have said the girl suffered a fractured skull, femur and ribs. Wilson maintained her innocence and had been held in jail since the girl's 2010 death.
