The man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend is behind bars. Police have added burglary and battery to the list of charges. Early Friday morning, Titus County law enforcement got a call from Arkansas Police that a kidnapping suspect, 22-year-old Nicholas Pfiefer was at a gas station there and wanted to turn himself in."He was calling from a pay phone. He had called police there, and he was scared. He didn't know what to do," said Lt. Brent Smith with the Titus County Sheriff's Department. The incident that ended in Mt. Pleasant, TX started hours away in Dardanelle, AR with a stop in New Boston, TX along the way. A report from the prosecuting attorney says Pfeifer forced his ex-girlfriend, 17-year-old Sara Alvis into his truck at a Wal-Mart in Dardanelle. Police believe he first tried to break into her home.Hours later police found Alvis in New Boston where she asked a gas station attendant to use the phone."You could tell that she was crying. Just really shaky so I knew something was wrong whenever she walked in, I just didn't know what," said the attendant. Alvis used the phone to call her family and tell them Pfeifer let her go after he saw an Amber Alert with her picture. Alvis also said Pfeifer choked her and pushed her head against a window to restrain her. She told authorities the suspect threatened to Tase her and duct tape her mouth and arms, and he removed the door handles from the passenger side door so she couldn't open it. Alvis added that her ex-boyfriend told her he wanted to be with her, and that he would take her to Houston, TX where he would make her watch him jump to his death from the tallest building there.Alvis is back at home, and Pfeifer is still in custody.

A 17-year-old girl is home safe, her ex-boyfriend in police custody and charged with multiple felonies after an alleged attempt to kidnap her during which authorities said he removed door and window handles from a truck to prevent her escape.
Police issued a Morgan Nick Amber Alert for Sarah Elizabeth Alves after witnesses told police they saw her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas V. Pfeifer, force her into a truck in the Walmart parking lot late Thursday.
Fifteenth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Tom Tatum charged Pfeifer, 22, with three criminal counts — kidnapping, residential burglary and third-degree battery — on Friday after Pfeifer reportedly spotted an interstate marquee displaying the alert outside Texarkana and released Alves at a service station in New Boston, Texas, a small town about 25 miles from the state line.
Dardanelle Police Chief Montie Sims said Alves — who sustained bruises during the incident after Pfeifer choked her and slammed her head into the truck — was safe Friday.
“She is at home,” Sims said. “Matter of fact, she is at school this afternoon.”
Pfeifer, who surrendered to police and was arrested Thursday night in Mount Pleasant, Texas, remains in police custody there. Information about his anticipated extradition to Arkansas is expected to come Monday, Sims said.
Pfeifer allegedly placed more than 20 calls to Alves’ cell phone in the hour leading up to the abduction, which occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, according to a probable cause statement filed in Yell County Circuit Court.
State police found the phone alongside the highway in Perry County following the abduction. Alves later told authorities Pfeifer threw it from the window of his truck.
The abduction came after Pfeifer apparently carried out a complex plan to disguise his vehicle, according to the police statement.
Investigators who traveled to Pfeifer’s home on Liberty Road in Dardanelle found “freshly used” paint cans at the residence, “some black and some red,” according to the report.
The Amber Alert initially contained information that Pfeifer’s truck was black, but police reports on Friday described it as “a red truck which had recently been painted black on one side.”
Alves told investigators Pfeifer modified the truck by painting portions of it to avoid identification.
Pfeifer told the girl he “wanted her to be with him,” and said he planned to take her to Houston, where he would locate a tall building and force her to watch as he jumped to his death, according to the probable cause statement.
During the alleged kidnapping, Pfeifer told Alves he went to her house — which police determined was entered forcibly — and waited for her to return prior to the Walmart encounter.
Alves told police Pfeifer threatened her with a Taser and said he would restrain her if she failed to cooperate with him.
His surrender to police came after he phoned his mother, according to court documents.
