An Andalusia man is being held on $2 million bail after being charged with using a steam iron and bamboo walking cane to abuse his child.
Lt. Paul Dean said 48-year-old Jerry Cowan was jailed on charges of first-degree domestic violence and aggravated child abuse.Dean said Andalusia police were notified by a social worker with the Department of Human Re­sources, and they interviewed the child at school.Dean said the child's injuries indicated that numerous items were used.A drug agent said Cowan also faces charges of chemical endan­germent of a child, second-degree possession of marijuana and pos­session of drug paraphernalia.
