Police search for missing Clayton girl
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Police are searching for a 17-year-old Morrow girl who went on a lunch break and never returned.
Clayton County Police Police are searching for Monica Ambriz. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call Clayton County Police at 770-477-3781.
Monica Ambriz left her job at the El Progresso grocery store on Tara Boulevard in Jonesboro at 4:45 p.m. Saturday to get something to eat. Her sister got a text from Monica's phone, but the message didn't contain Monica's usual abbreviations and acronyms, police said.
About 7:45 p.m, Monica's mom saw an unidentified man driving Monica's car on Tara Boulevard near I-75. The car was found abandoned minutes later, with Monica's cell phone inside.
Later that night, two witnesses reported seeing Monica at La Jungla Restaurant on Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta. But she has not been seen since.
Monica also has been known to visit the El Noa Noa nightclub on Chamblee Tucker Road in DeKalb County.
Police said she might be using a fake Texas ID with the name, "Monica Sandoval."
Monica is described as 5-foot-5, 148 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing jeans, a red shirt, white belt and black shoes.
Police said they are not ruling out foul play in Monica's disappearance.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call Clayton County Police Det. Chris Helton at 770-477-3781.

October 22, 2010 1:25 PM Monica Ambriz Missing: Police Fear Missing Ga. Teenager in Danger
Monica Ambriz (Clayton County Police Dept.)
MORROW, Ga. (CBS/WGCL) The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has issued a nationwide alert for Monica Ambriz, a missing Georgia teenager who police fear is in danger. The Clayton County Police Department believe the disappearance of the 17-year-old from Morrow, Ga. is suspicious. Monica disappeared on Saturday while taking her lunch break from her job at grocery store in Jonesboro, about 20 miles south of Atlanta. Police say her truck and cell phone were later found abandoned. Her sister, Maria Ambriz, told CBS affiliate WGCL that her family called the cell phone several times Saturday and, eventually, a man answered. "Before he hanged up, he said he wasn't going to bring her back," Maria Ambriz told the station. She also said her parents spotted Monica's yellow truck that same day and followed it. According to her, they found it by a mall with the stereo missing, but her sister's cell phone was still inside. Several people have reported spotting Monica in the metro Atlanta area, according to investigators. One of the places were she was reported was a nightclub in Southwest Atlanta. Maria Ambriz said her mother is not sure if Monica left on her own or was kidnapped. But regardless, the family wants her home. Anyone with information on Monica's whereabouts is urged to call the Clayton County Police Department at 770-477-3781.http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20020436-504083.html
