Re: EBONY FRANKLIN - 17 yo(2010) - Columbia Heights-Washington DC
Police identified a body found Monday afternoon in a trash bin as that of 17-year-old Ebony Franklin of Capitol Heights, Maryland. Police say Franklin went missing sometime Friday after spending Thanksgiving with her father in the District. She was heading home to Prince George's County when she disappeared. Franklin lived with her mother and step-father in a townhouse community in Capitol Heights. Neighbors say the teenager was a nice girl and dedicated student. "I just saw her every morning going to school," neighbor Earnice Cox said. "It's sad. It's very sad. It's weighing heavily on my heart to know that that could happen to a young lady. Police reports indicate that Franklin was stabbed repeatedly before the killer stuffed her body into a trash bin in an alley between Euclid and Fairmont Streets in northwest D.C. Sources say Franklin’s mother tried to file a missing persons report with D.C. Police, but was instead referred to Prince George's County, which took the report Saturday night. D.C. Police are heading up the murder investigation. They are not saying whether they believe Franklin knew her killer or if detectives have any leads on suspects. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIME (1-888-919-2746). The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to D.C. CRIME SOLVERS at 1-866-411-TIPS and to the departments TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

D.C. Police Say Father Killed Md. Girl Found In Trash
"WASHINGTON (AP) — The father of a 17-year-old Maryland girl whose body was found in a trash barrel last year in Washington’s Columbia Heights neighborhood has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
D.C. police announced Saturday they had arrested 45-year-old Rodney J. McIntyre of southeast Washington in the killing.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier says forensic and electronic evidence had been gathered in the death of Ebony Franklin of Capitol Heights, Md. Franklin lived with her mother in Prince George’s County and was reported missing last Nov. 27. When Franklin was found in a trash barrel in an alley, she had been fatally stabbed.
Lanier says there was “evidence of a sexual relationship” between McIntyre and his daughter. Lanier declined to describe a motive in the girl’s death. "
