A two-year-old toddler was kidnapped from a McAllen home Wednesday afternoon.Chief Victor Rodriguez said “we received a call just after 4 p.m. of a report of a family member taking a two-year-old without permission.”When officers arrived at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Jasmine, a man told police his sister, Regina Woodfork, 39, grabbed Terry Onne Bennett, 2, and took off.

“There wasn’t a fight or any suspicious circumstances” said Chief Rodriguez, adding this is the first time Woodfork has taken the child without permission.Chief Rodriguez has asked the state to issue an Amber Alert, but that request was not approved as of 8:15 p.m. Wednesday night.Authorities are also on high alert at the ports of entry, because Woodfork is from Tamaulipas and has lived in Reynosa.Woodfork is believed to be traveling in a grey or silver 4-door Ford Focus with paper tags.If you have any information on this kidnapping, call McAllen Crime Stoppers at (956) 687-TIPS.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has issued an Amber Alert for a
missing 2-year-old boy last seen early Wednesday evening in McAllen. Terry
Onne Bennett was last seen after 4 p.m. Wednesday with April Woodfork,
40, who police say may be driving a silver or gray Ford Focus with a
paper license tag. Bennett is described as three feet tall,
weighing 35 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen
wearing a red and navy blue shirt with black sleeves, navy blue Nike
pants, and red and black Nike athletic shoes. Woodfork is
described as a 40-year-old black woman who stands at a height of 5-feet
4-inches tall, weighs 202 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She
was last seen wearing a white shirt and green capri pants. Anyone
with information on where Bennett and Woodfork can be found is asked to
contact the McAllen Police Department by phone at 956-681-2000.

The woman accused of kidnapping her nephew and taking him to Reynosa was charged with the crime Friday morning.

Forty-year-old
April Regina Woodfork was charged with kidnapping, a third-degree
felony. Authorities say Woodfork took her 2-year-old nephew, Terryonne
Bennett, from his McAllen home Wednesday and crossed him into Reynosa,
where she lives and works.

The FBI, Tamaulipas state police, and McAllen police all worked together to help locate Terryonne and bring him home safely.

According
to the boy's mother, Woodfork said she took him because she missed her
own grandson and Terryonne was basically his replacement.

Woodfork was given $5,000 bond.
