Pennsylvania State Police on Wednesday night were still searching for a
16-year-old Hayfield Township girl who has been missing since Friday.

Ashley Leanne Potts was last seen at her home on South Norrisville Road in
Hayfield, police said. Hayfield is located in central Crawford County.
Potts is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 110 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

The Saegertown High School student may be in the company of an adult man, police said.

A Facebook.com group for the missing teen has been started, with more than 500
members. The group includes posts that say they're from the teen's
mother. There are also many happy birthday wishes, since today is Potts'
birthday, and messages asking her to please return home to her family.
In one post, the Facebook page administrator says Potts is possibly with a 29-year-old man.

Anyone with information on the teen's whereabouts is asked to call Meadville-based state police, at 332-6911.

Outpouring of support online for missing girl on her birthday

Ashley Potts' 17th birthday was celebrated in a very different way this year,
as dozens of people flooded the "Ashley Potts Missing" Facebook page
with birthday messages and posts hoping for her speedy return.

The Facebook page, set up by Potts' mother, Jennifer Nicols, of
Centerville, is designed to help find the missing girl and circulate her image online.
"We started it (the page) on Monday and we now have 742 people signed up," Nicols said on Thursday.

Along with birthday messages, some people are praying for her to return home,
while others beg her to make contact with her family.

"We've had absolutely no contact with her," said Nicols. She also asked, "Why
would she leave right before her birthday — or Christmas?"
There are still very few details on the case, but this much is known.

Pennsylvania State Police are involved in the search for Potts, who has been missing
since Dec. 10. She was last seen at her home on South Norrisville Road
in Hayfield Township, which is located in central Crawford County.

Potts, a Saegertown High School student, is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 110 pounds,
with brown hair and blue eyes.

She may be in the company of an adult man, police said, and Potts' mother
agrees. "I believe she's in contact with him," said Nicols, adding that
the man probably knows Potts' location.

Missing Crawford County teen found

MEADVILLE -- A missing Crawford County teen returned home safely early today.

Ashley Leanne Potts contacted a relative this morning, state police at Meadville said.


The 16-year-old went missing Dec. 10, when she was last seen at her residence on South Norrisville Road in Hayfield Township, police said. Police had said she might be in the company of a known adult male.


Details on where the girl was and whether she was with someone weren't immediately available from police.
