State police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old boy in Camillus after his mother found him unresponsive at home.

Camillus police were called to an apartment at 50 Gordon Parkway
shortly after 1 p.m. for a report of an unresponsive child, according to
police Capt. Steve Rotunno.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene after police, firefighters and ambulance workers arrived, Rotunno said.

The baby's mother had found him unresponsive and called 911, Rotunno
said. Police are not releasing the child's name because his family is
still notifying relatives, Rotunno said.

"Right now, it does not seem to be anything suspicious," said
Rotunno, who said the state police have taken over as the lead agency on
the case.

The Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy, Rotunno said.

State police investigators could not be reached for comment.

Along with Camillus police, arriving at the scene were Fairmount firefighters and WAVES ambulance workers.
