Casey Anthony: HLN starts newscast at 5 tonight

HLN is rolling out a new daily program, “HLN Special Report,” at 5 tonight.

“It’s designed to focus on the Casey Anthony trial,” said Scot Safon, executive vice president of HLN. “It’s designed as our way of gathering experts at HLN and all the contributors for ‘In Session.’ ” Also on tap: “Anyone emerging as someone you’d want to talk to about testimony,” Safon said.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. Jury selection is slated to begin next Monday.

Today’s premiere also will feature heavy coverage on Osama bin Laden’s death.

Vinnie Politan, who hosts an HLN show at 6 p.m., will be at the helm of “HLN Special Report.” “At 6, it’s his show,” Safon said. “The 5 p.m. show is designed to bring in a lot of voices.”

Safon said the people stopping by “HLN Report” will include such HLN hosts as Jane Velez-Mitchell, Dr. Drew Pinsky and Nancy Grace. “Nancy Grace will weigh in on the coverage,” Safon said. “Clearly, she’s the main voice to a lot of people following the story.”
