CLEARWATER, Fla. — The second day of jury selection in the Casey Anthony capital murder trial got underway with Chief Judge Belvin Perry’s prodding—of defense attorney Jose Baez.

“The ship is rolling,” Judge Perry advised Baez, who after the lunch recess, resumed his dogged criticism of the prosecution’s scientific expert witness, specifically attacking Dr. Arpad Vass’s research article on human decomposition.

Following Baez’s complaint to the court yesterday that he was unable to obtain the names of 478 volatile compounds Dr. Vass says are released at intervals in human decomposition, Assistant District Attorney Jeff Ashton acquired the database via telephone.
