"Infant Jane Doe" - 6 Months - Columbus OH

COLUMBUS, Ohio --
A 29-year-old man is in custody, accused of intentionally
burning a 6-month-old girl by dipping her in hot water because he was
upset with her mother.
The incident allegedly occurred at a residence on Summerway Court
on Aug. 9, 2011 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Darell Byrd, 29, was arrested Monday and charged with felonious assault and endangering children.
He was transported to the Franklin County Jail.
Police said Byrd intentionally caused the injury to the girl while in his care
by dipping her feet into a sink of hot water.
The investigation, police said, revealed that Byrd was upset with the victim's mother.
The girl suffered severe third-degree burns to both her feet.
The suspect is the boyfriend of the victim's mother and is not the father of the victim.
Byrd appeared in court Tuesday morning and bond was set at $100,000.
