ANAHEIM – Authorities and family members are asking for the public's
help in finding a 14-year-old Anaheim girl who went missing more than a
week ago.

Jacqueline Martinez left her family's home about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30,
with family members believing that she was walking to a Jack in the Box
restaurant at Dale Street and Ball Road.







Based on Internet communications, it was originally believed that
Jacqueline was planning to "covertly" meet a 15-year-old boy, Anaheim
police Sgt. Rick Martinez said. But the boy told investigators that she
never made it to their meeting.

Family members said they've hired a private investigator to find
Jacqueline, and during Tuesday night's Anaheim City Council meeting
passed out dozens of flyers around City Hall.

"She is still a little girl, and this is not like her to do this,"
said Jacqueline's cousin, Danielle Canal, 23. "She was in Girl Scouts
and in the AVID program at school; she liked school."

A day after her disappearance, a message from Jacqueline's phone was
sent to a family member, indicating that she was fine and staying with a
friend, Martinez said.

But it isn't known whether Jacqueline actually sent the message, and
her friends have told investigators that they haven't seen or talked to
her.

Police say there is nothing to indicate that any foul play occurred
but are concerned for Jacqueline's safety due to her age and the length
of time she has been away.

"The family is trying to stay positive but having a really hard
time," Canal said. "Her father is strong, but he's in tears by the end
of the day every day."

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the
disappearance or about Jacqueline's whereabouts to call Anaheim

UPDATE, NOV. 17, 9:32 A.M.: Fourteen-year-old Jacqueline Martinez of Anaheim has been found and an arrest has been made, according to the official Find Jackie Martinez Facebook page.
