The BROCKITT Children - 4 yo Girl and 3 yo Boy - Worth/ Sanilac MI

WORTH TWP. — A 34-year-old Worth Township man is facing numerous
child abuse charges after an investigation revealed he allegedly abused
his 4-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son, according to a news release
from the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.


Joseph
Lee Brockitt was arraigned today on two counts of felony child torture,
one count of first-degree child abuse and two counts of second-degree
child abuse.
St. Clair County Sheriff deputies heard of
the suspected child abuse early Saturday morning from a subject who was
staying at the residence, said Sheriff Tim Donnellon.
Sanilac
County Sheriff deputies then responded Saturday morning to a residence
in the 7000 block of Dian Street in Worth Township to investigate,
according to the news release. A preliminary investigation led to search
warrants for the residence.
Brockitt allegedly abused his
4-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son for several months for not being
potty trained, according to the news release.
The two
children were removed from the home by Child Protective Services, along
with a 13-month-old girl and a newborn boy, according to the release.
All four children are now in temporary foster care.
Between
eight and nine people live in the residence, said Sanilac County
Undersheriff Brad Roff. Charges are being evaluated for the other adult
subjects residing in the home.
Brockitt remains in police custody on a $100,000 no contact bond pending his preliminary examination.
The incident remains under investigation.
