Columbus County deputies looking for missing 12-year-old girl

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- The
Columbus County Sheriff's Office is looking for held finding a
12-year-old girl. Sonia Trinidad Barios has been missing from her home
in the Welches Creek area of Columbus County since at least early Sunday
morning.

She is described as a Hispanic female, 5'5" tall, 110 pounds with
black shoulder length hair and dark brown eyes. She was last seen
wearing blue jeans and brown Converse shoes. She is believed to be with
Jorge Alesandro Rojas. Rojas is in his mid twenties and may be employed
with a metal recycling company in the Wilmington area.

WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) - With the holidays so close, many parents are looking
forward to spending some quality time with their kids. But instead of being
concerned about which Christmas gifts to buy, one family in Columbus County is
praying that a missing 12-year-old girl is returned home safely.


Sonia Trinidad Barios has been missing since early Sunday morning, according
to officials.

She is believed to be in the company of Jorge Alesandro Rojas, a regular
customer at Barios' family's store, Latino America.

According to Barios' father, the Sunday that she disappeared, Rojas was
supposed to take the girl home, but never did.

Relatives say Barios' family isn't taking her disappearance well.

"They can't sleep at night," said Barios' aunt, Ingrid Sabogal. "They're
not having a good time. It's hard for them to work and think about their
daughter missing."

Barios is described as being 5'5" tall and 110 pounds, with black
should-length hair and dark brown eyes. Officials say she was last seen wearing
blue jeans and brown Converse shoes.

Rojas is believed to be in his mid-twenties and may work for a metal
recycling company in Wilmington.
