CLEVELAND -- Police Sgt. Sammy Morris says they have charged India
Parker, 35, with abuse of a corpse in connection with an investigation
into the disappearance of her daughter.


Police say that the investigation got underway Monday into the
whereabouts of Kaliyah,10, after Kaliyah's birth father reported the
child missing.

The Cuyahoga County Department of Children and Family Services began investigating the girl's disappearance on Dec,. 16.

They received a call from the father of one of Parker's other
children, when he noticed Kaliyah wasn't at the mother's house when he
went to pick up his son from a visit.

When social workers began asking questions, friends and family members say they have not seen Kaliyah in about five years.

The police report shows that India told others that Kaliyah died when
a bookcase fell on her, but detectives were unable to locate a death
certificate and a search of hospital lists did not provide an answer.

Parker is scheduled to be in court at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Late Friday, Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath sent out a news
release, asking for the public's help in locating Kaliyah Parker.

She was last seen in 2006 and was 5 years of age at that time.

A mother has been charged with abuse of a corpse for what happened to her youngest daughter.

19 Action News has learned India Parker admitted to cops she threw her dead child's body out with the trash.

Kaliyah Parker vanished in 2006, when she was
five-years-old. She would be 10 now, but friends and relatives say the
child has not been seen in years.

We are told India would always make excuses to explain the girl's absence.

India, meantime, is no stranger to the
system. In 2001 she was charged with child endangering. Those charges
though were dropped after she went through parenting classes.

Multiple sources also tell 19 Action News that Parker has had at least one child taken away then given back by social workers.

Cleveland Police released the following statement Friday, Dec. 23, 2011:

Today Michael
McGrath, Chief of the Cleveland Division of Police, is asking for the
public's help in locating Kaliyah Parker. Parker was reported missing
on Monday, December 19, 2011, to the Cuyahoga County Department of
Children and Family Services. She was last seen in 2006 and was 5 years
of age at that time. Kaliyah Parker's mother India Parker is being
investigated by the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit in c/w
her daughter's missing status.
