Monongahela woman accused of tossing child released from jail, awaits trial
Laura Laughland accused of throwing girl by hair on Mother's Day

MONONGAHELA, Pa. - A Monongahela woman accused of grabbing her boyfriend's 7-year-old daughter by the hair and throwing her across a room on Mother's Day waived her case to trial Tuesday.

Laura Laughland, who was charged with simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child, has been in the Washington County Jail since then, unable to post her $25,000 straight bond.

On Tuesday, a judge set conditions for her release without having to come up with the money.

"She not get in any further criminal matters and criminal problems and she stay away from the situation and the victim. She's going to go to school and get working and what not, and the case should go on a few months from now," said assistant public defender Russell Korner.

Laughland was expected to be released sometime Tuesday.
