The family of an 18-year-old Warsaw woman said she went for a walk last week in Kosciusko County and hasn’t been seen since.

Now police are asking the public to help find her.

Aurora Shoemaker’s family called the sheriff’s department Sunday and told police she left their home at the Acres Mobile Home Park, at 3699 North County Road 175 East, on Thursday and never came home.

Shoemaker was last seen near her Warsaw home about 4 p.m. and attempts to contact her on her cellphone were unsuccessful, police said in a statement.

Police described her as 5-foot-6 with short blonde hair, green eyes, with a thin frame and piercings in her lip.

“We have no reason to believe she is in any danger,” said Sgt. Chad Hill, spokesman for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

Eighteen-year-old Aurora Shoemaker was last seen on foot in the
Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park in Warsaw on Thursday, at approximately
4:00 p.m. The young woman vanished sometime after that without a trace
and her disappearance is nearing its one-week mark with no new clues in
her whereabouts.

With
her disappearance approaching a week, it's hard to consider what may
have happened to her. Her family says the 18-year-old woman has never
run off like this, so that immediately sparks feelings of worry that
could indicate she was harmed. Could she have been abducted from the
trailer park she was last seen wandering around? Could she have run off for the first time?
Aurora Shoemaker was not in a safe environment. The Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park is surrounded by several registered sex offenders.
Many of these offenders are known for child molestation, but others are
listed as violent. Knowing this about the RSOs surrounding the area in
which she was last seen makes it more than apparent that she was in
danger by wandering about on foot.

Ground Search Held In Shoemaker Case

Up to a half dozen patrol cars responded to an area near Edgewood Middle
School Saturday following up on information in the case of a missing
18-year-old woman.

Aurora Shoemaker has been missing since Thursday, Aug. 16, when her
family says she went for a walk alone from her home in Suburban Acres
Mobile Home Park at around 5:30 p.m. and never returned. Shoemaker left
her home with only the clothes she was wearing and her cell phone, but
no charger. The phone went dead shortly after her disappearance.

Neighbors near a wooded area in the 800 block of South Union Street,
Warsaw, say about a half dozen city and county police units were there
searching for the source of a foul odor. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s
Department Detective Todd Sautter tells StaceyPageOnline.com that a deer
carcass was located.
Authorities believe Shoemaker is missing of her own free will, but
they would still like to speak with her just to confirm her welfare.
Det. Sautter says Shoemaker is an adult and has done nothing illegal,
but he encourages her to make contact with him or a family member so the
search for her can come to an end.

Aurora is about 5 foot 9 inches tall with short strawberry blonde
hair. She has blue/green eyes, a thin frame and piercings on her lip.
