Caylee Anthony: Ignore the media coverage? How?

One of the week’s more head-scratching stories didn’t receive a lot of coverage.

At Zenaida Gonzalez’s defamation trial, Casey Anthony’s attorneys want no mention of media reports about Caylee Anthony’s death or Casey’s murder trial. Anthony’s attorneys filed the motion this week.

Can’t you see Seth Meyers on “Saturday Night Live” taking up that bit of news and going, “Really?”

Gonzalez is suing because she says her life was ruined when she was linked to Caylee’s disappearance in the high-profile case. Gonzalez needs the details of the coverage to back up her argument.

Details of the Anthony case continue to reverberate. WESH-Channel 2’s Bob Kealing on Friday speculated that Jeff Ashton, the state attorney-elect, could be the lead prosecutor in the Cady Way Trail murders. Jesse Davis and Hector Rodriguez are charged with the shooting and burning deaths of Winter Park High students Nicholas Presha and Jeremy Stewart.

“I think it’s highly likely that one or both these people will face the death penalty,” attorney Richard Hornsby told Kealing. Hornsby said the Cady Way Trail murders seem like an ideal case for Ashton to prosecute, Hornsby added.

Ashton won office after unsuccessfully prosecuting Casey Anthony, and he has said he will try cases as state attorney unlike his predecessor. The Cady Way trial could happen in the same courtroom where Anthony was acquitted, Kealing noted.

On Friday’s edition of “Dr. Phil,” Phil McGraw offered to help the parents of Trayvon Martin with a foundation they have established. McGraw’s offer brought back memories of how he helped George and Cindy Anthony with a foundation they established to honor granddaughter Caylee. It was later learned that McGraw’s production company had given $600,000 to the Anthony foundation.

Trying to ignore the Caylee Anthony coverage? Good luck with that.
