Missing child alert: Shaniya Wendy Jaques-Louis vanished while playing

 Dec 13, 2013 at 6:27 PM PST

Have you seen this missing child? Shaniya Wendy Jaques-Louis vanished while playing outside of her home with a friend in the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami. The four-year-old child was wearing a blue shirt and purple shorts with a blow in her hair. She's an African-American female.

If you know anything about this missing child, please come forward and call 911. There is currently no Amber Alert active for the child, but likely because no vehicle was spotted and her case hasn't yet met the criteria for Amber Alert in the state of Florida. All that is known is that she was last seen at around 4:00 p.m., Friday afternooon playing with neighbor children.

This little girl could have wandered away and gotten lost, or someone could have preyed on her -- kidnapping her from in front of the neighborh's home where she played. However, no witnesses have come forward with any information.

Yes Police Investigate Disappearance Of 4-Year-Old, Now Back Home
December 16, 2013 11:19 PM

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Police continued to investigate the disappearance of a 4-year-old girl who is now back in the arms of her family.

Monday, she and her family went to talk to health professionals. She clutched her teddy bear as she walked in.  Police don’t know where she was during the 36 hours she was gone, but her family is thankful she’s back.

“I’m happy I’m happy. Thank you God. Thank you God,” said the child’s mother, Estelle, who told CBS4 she has not stopped crying since her baby went missing. “I cry all the time, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I cry.”

“My daughter come in the door she say ‘Mommy, Mommy, Mommy open for me I need some juice’, I say wow,” recalled her father, Joseph.

The child disappeared from her front yard Friday afternoon. After a desperate search, witnesses spotted a stranger with the girl in front of her house around 5:30 Sunday morning.

“The two witnesses were confronting the man who had the girl in his custody he told the little girl to go inside her home the police were called,” said Frederica Burden with Miami Police.

The man took off, and investigators are still working to identify him. Police released sketches of that man and another man seen in the area before she disappeared. It is possible the men in both composite sketches are the same person.

“We need to find out who took her who brought her back,” said Sgt. Freddie Cruz, with Miami Police. “We’re not clear if it’s one person or two people who are involved in this case,” he added.

Police will be passing out sketches in the neighborhood Wednesday morning.

The child’s godmother, Elena Gaffrard said the little girl came home frightened with her hair messy. “She was scared she said she was hungry,” said Gaffrard.

The family is just thankful she’s home.

“I say God thank you, I say police thank you, everybody thank you because you’re working hard to find my baby I’m very happy,” said Joseph.

He says he is disappointed it took so long to find his baby. He and the girls sister say whoever took the child should pay for what they did.

“The man should go to jail for life,” said Kinesha, the girls sister.
