Police are looking for a 20-year-old man who they say sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl at an Aurora apartment complex.

A police department spokesman described the alleged incident from Aug. 9
at an apartment in the 11200 block of East Alameda Avenue as
"disturbing."

The suspect, Daniel Evaristo Hernandez-Ramos, has
been charged with sexual assault on a child and child abuse resulting
in serious bodily injury, police said.

Police have been
searching for Hernandez-Ramos since Aug. 9 but have not been able to
find him and are asking the public for help.

“There is a real
sense of urgency surrounding this case,” said Detective Bob Friel, a
spokesman for the department. “Investigators are hopeful that
information will pour in and lead them to the suspect’s location.”

The investigation started around 9:30 p.m. Aug. 9 when police responded to
the apartment complex on a report of a sex assault on a young child.


There, “officers found a distraught mother who told officers her daughter was sexually assaulted,” police said in a statement.

Friel said Monday that police believe the assault happened that day at the apartment complex.

The suspect lived in the apartment complex, as did the girl’s family, but
he didn’t know the girl or her family well, Friel said.

Police described Hernandez-Ramos as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet, 8 inches
tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He has short hair and a slim build,
police said.

He has a tattoo on one of his arms of a heart with
flames on it and “Daniel” written next to the heart, police said.
Investigators aren’t sure which arm the tattoo is on.

According to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records, Hernandez-Ramos has never been arrested in Colorado.


Police are asking anyone with information about Hernandez-Ramos to call

Aurora, CO police have released a new picture of
Honduran national Daniel Hernandez-Ramos, 20, and are asking the public
for help in apprehending the accused child rapist.On Sunday,
Aug. 9 around 9:30 p.m., the little girl was taken from the parking lot
outside the Wentworth Apartments. Officers said the girl was outside
retrieving something from the family car, when Ramos grabbed her and
assaulted her.

When the girl did not return right away, her
mother began searching for her. She found her in another area of the
complex, and discovered that her daughter had been sexually assaulted.Aurora
Police Detective Bob Friel said: "He took advantage of the fact that,
here's a 4-year-old, defenseless, little girl on her own in a parking
lot and it sickens us to see this kind of thing happen.”.Ramos
had been staying with friends in the same apartment complex, and left
immediately following the assault, leaving many of his possessions
behind.Because he is in this country illegally and has no
permanent address or valid employment records, police are having a
difficult time locating him.Hernandez-Ramos is about 5 feet 8
inches tall and 150 pounds. He has a tattoo on his arm, a heart with
flames, with the name "Daniel" on or next to the heart.Because of the heinous nature of this crime, and his illegal status, police are worried about the danger he poses to the public.Det.
Friel said: "There's always the possibility that if he is on the loose,
that he would commit this crime again. And that is the reason that it's
so important that we catch up to him as quickly as possible.”Anyone
