Chula Vista police are searching for a missing 10-year-old boy who may be in danger.

Troy Richmond Jr. was last seen 11 a.m. Friday at his home on 1st Avenue near Naples Street in Chula Vista. He is 4 feet 11 inches tall, 185 pounds and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black basketball shorts.
His family told investigators that a family friend, Byron Keith Johnson, 41, said he was taking the boy to a barbeque at an unknown location. The pair never returned.
Johnson does not have a permanent address or a phone number and is known to stay with friends in Spring Valley, San Diego and Chula Vista. The pair may be on foot or may have taken public transportation.

Chula Vista police need your help finding a missing 10-year-old boy.
Troy Lamonte Richmond Jr. was last seen Friday morning at 11 at his home on First Avenue in Chula Vista.
Police first learned of the boy’s disappearance when they contacted his
mother’s boyfriend at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, who was riding a bike without
a light on. When asked why he was riding around at night without a
bike light, the boyfriend said he was looking for his girlfriend's
missing 10-year-old son. Officers then went to Troy's home and searched for Troy and further evidence of his location.
Troy may have left home with family friend, 41-year-old, Byron Keith
Johnson. Troy's family told police that Johnson said he was taking Troy
to a barbecue at an unknown location and they have not returned.
They say it is unusual for Troy to stay away overnight and it is unusual
that Johnson has not contacted them. Troy's family does not have a
contact phone number or permanent address for Johnson. Johnson does
not have a car or permanent address and he is known to stay with
friends in Spring Valley, San Diego and Chula Vista.

Chula Vista police reported that a 10-year-old boy who was missing
since Friday morning was found and returned to his family safely
Saturday. Troy Richmond Jr. was located this morning at the home of
family friend who acts as a big brother figure to the boy, said Chula
Vista police Lt. Scott Arsenault. The whole situation was a
miscommunication between the boy's mother, her boyfriend and another
family friend, Byron Keith Johnson, who also acts as a mentor to Troy,
Arsenault said. Johnson was with the boy since he was noticed
to be missing around 11 a.m. Friday. Johnson and Troy spent the night
at the home of another family friend who also has a mentor-type
relationship with the child, according to Arsenault. "Byron
didn't do anything wrong other than not communicating very well with
the family where he was going to be, " Arsenault said.
