STEPHEN TROY - 23 Months (2009) - London KY

Kentucky State Police have charged a
southeastern Kentucky woman after the death of her 23-month-old son was
ruled a homicide.Charges of murder and first-degree criminal
abuse were filed Sunday against 21-year-old Amanda Johnson of the East
Bernstadt community in Laurel County.The victim was Stephen Troy, who was rushed to a hospital
Friday morning after he was found unresponsive at Johnson's boyfriend's
home. The boy later died of what Laurel County Coroner said abdominal injuries.
Michael Troy, who is identified as the boy's father, says he had never seen Johnson abuse the child.

The trial of a Laurel County mother charged with killing her toddler got underway Tuesday.
Amanda Johnson is charged with murder in the October 2009 death of

LONDON, Ky. — A jury has convicted a 23-year-old southern Kentucky woman of killing her toddler son.
Amanda Johnson was facing murder and abuse charges stemming from the October 2009 death of 23-month-old Stephen Carl Troy.
A jury in Laurel Circuit Court deliberated about 2 ½
hours Wednesday before returning a guilty verdict on both counts,
according to the Corbin Times Tribune.
The newspaper reports the state medical examiner's
office found bruises on the child's abdomen, fractures on his left leg, a
bruise on the lower part of his back and a bruise on the top of his
