PORT ST. JOHN, Fla. -- A 19-year-old man remained jailed in Brevard County on Friday on accusations of child abuse after an infant in his care suffered two broken legs and a brain injury.
Kyle Carsoso was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect after the 2-month-old child was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Brevard County Sheriff's Office officials said that Cardoso was responsible for caring for his girlfriend’s child Wednesday afternoon. Someone else arrived at the home in Port St. John and noticed that the child was injured.
The child was taken to Parrish Medical Center in Titusville and then flown to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Children in Orlando.
Sheriff’s officials said the child was expected to survive.
