Okay, I did. It has to be especially frustrating for Michael's family when it's politics and stupid kid's games - you're on my side of the line- stuff that seems to be keeping justice from being served. How especially heartbreaking after the devastation of losing their boy.

Rumor has it that the DA and ADA along with SBI walked the crime scence. From the begining where the assult started in Transyvania County to the area he was also beaten and dropped off and to where he was found dead about 2 or so ago. Family has yet to receive a call from the Da's office to confirm this. Losing a child in this way is a terrible thing in itself, but to have no communication from the authories is flat out a nightmare for them. They don't know what is going on and can't seem to get any answers.

Those are the same names that have come up from the beginning. For nine months those names have continued to come up over and over. You would think at the very least, some charges would be filed while they build a case. Tomorrow would have been Michael's 17th birthday, and his family deserves answers and justice.

Family members say law enforcement officials still can't explain what happened to 16 year old Michael Rogers. The Transylvania teenager's body was found in a field off Grove Bridge road in Henderson county last February. An autopsy revealed he died from hypothermia and blunt force trauma.

Investigators have questioned dozens of people who attended a party where Rogers was last seen alive. His mother says he called her pleading for help from that party saying he was hurt and didn't know where he was. His step-father eventually talked to someone at the party who said they were off King road and could meet at a nearby church. They went to the church where they met deputies and began the search.

Michael was found the next day after deputies launched a massive search. His mother, Barbara Leonard says investigators know what happened that night but have failed to charge a single person in the case. She received 3 phone calls from Michael before he disappeared. Investigators would only tell them he attended the party, was beaten and then dropped off at a park near the river. Barbara has even received a phone message from a teenage girl who claims she was the reason Michael is dead, that a fight broke out because of her.

Sheriff David Mahoney will only say that the investigation with the SBI's assistance was thorough and that this was not a "cookie cutter" case. He says the investigation was turned over to District Attorney Jeff Hunt in September. Mahoney says they're now waiting for a decision on what if any charges will be filed.

WOW - I was just reading the latest comment in that thread, Ovie, and the theory that last person threw out was that perhaps those that are (or AREN'T in this case) investigating may have their own child involved and covering it up to save their a** damn I hope that's not the case. Kinda reminds me of Urine Vanderslime and his daddy I pray this young man and his family get justice SOON!

from everything i have read, the kids involved in the fight which led to his death are from "connected" families - I believe that is what is stopping the prosecution of this crime. IMO

Transylvania County Sheriff's Office Scott Allen Fisher, 20 of Horse Shoe, was arrested today in the case of Michael Scott Rogers. A Henderson County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment charging Fisher with Involuntary Manslaughter.

Nearly a year after the crime, an arrest has been made in the death of Michael Scott Rogers.

20 yr. old Scott Allen Fisher, of Horse Shoe, was arrested today on a charge of involuntary manslaughter. He's being held in the Henderson Co. Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.

In February 2010, Rogers, who was 16, was found beaten to death in a field near the Henderson Co.-Transylvania Co. line. Police determined that he was beaten at a party the night before, and frantically called his parents several times begging for help.

HENDERSONVILLE— Authorities made an arrest Friday in the death of a Transylvania County teenager whose battered body was found in a hog field last February.
Sheriff David Mahoney said Scott Allen Fisher, 20, of Horseshoe, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and jailed under a $15,000 secured bond.

Michael Scott Rogers, 16, of Brevard, was injured in a fight before he was found dead the morning of Feb. 21, an autopsy report states.Mahoney said Fisher had been at a party with Rogers before the death, but the sheriff declined to release further details.

“I’m glad that we’re able to bring to a close this portion of the investigation,” he said. “This has been a very long 11 months for that (Rogers) family.”

I totally agree. I'm glad they have arrested him , but he had a year to come forward and say he had a fight with him but chose not to so it was more than a scuffle and whoops scenario IMO. Even if he's convicted this violent offender will be on the streets attacking others in no time.

well i hope there are jury instructions that would allow them to choose voluntary vs. involuntary.

Justice for Michael - i hope some of this was brought out by the many caring members of our blog and the topix forum hounding that DA for this. continued prayers for michaels' family.

Trial date for Scott Allen Fisher is set for june 13th in .Henderson County ..thank you all and please continue prayers

I was informed it was Scott Fisher's "court" date, not "trial" date on the 13th of this month

The case against Scott Fisher in the death of Michael Rogers has now been coninued until the 24th of Oct.2011 This is not a trail date,but court date...will keep everyone updated
