A local missing girl has been found after a 51-Year-Old man allegedly
kidnapped her with the intent to have sex. David Charles Zastrow, 51,
and his 21-year-old son Christopher are accused of crossing state lines
and kidnapping a 14-year-old girl from her east Bakersfield home last
month. The FBI says the girl and her family had been living in
Florida at an apartment complex managed by David Zastrow, who is known
as a nudist. The girl reportedly engaged in an inappropriate
relationship with Zastrow. An affidavit released by the Department of
Justice says Zastrow allegedly showered with the victim, played sexual
games with her, and sat her on his lap as he kissed her.The FBI
says victim's mother moved the family to Bakersfield in February.
Authorities say that's when Zastrow and his son came to Bakersfield in
search of the girl. Zastrow reportedly stayed at a Motel 6 on East
Brundage Lane, within a mile and a half from the victim's new home.
On March 15, the girl's mother told investigators she overheard the
girl on the phone with Zastrow, and heard him say the word "park"
and "you can get away." He also reportedly
slipped the victim a cell phone to secretly communicate with her. Two
days later, she ran away and was missing until last night. Investigators
tracked down Zastrow and the victim at a motel in Sacramento.
Christopher was also arrested. This isn't the first time the
father-son duo was accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old for sex. A
23-year-old woman told investigators that when she was 14, she also ran
away with the Zastrows who then held her captive. She told investigators
David Zastrow secretly videotaped her engaging in sexual activity with
his son. He also allegedly had child pornography on his computer. Kern
County Undersheriff Marty Williamson says if all this is true, "He's a
true predator. And we will let the judicial process take its course."

A missing Bakersfield teenage girl was found in a Sacramento area
hotel Tuesday evening and a Florida father and son were arrested in
connection with her disappearance.

David Zastrow, 51, was arrested on suspicion of traveling across
state lines to engage in illegal sexual conduct, enticing a minor and
kidnapping, according to a news release from the the office of U.S.
Attorney for the Eastern District of California. David Zastrow's son,
Christopher Zastrow, 21, was arrested on suspicion of child concealment.
The Zastrows have known the teen and her family for years and were
able to entice her to run away with them, officials said. A criminal
complaint filed in federal court laid out the convoluted case, which
required investigation in Lee County, Fla., Fort Collins, Colo., and
Sacramento.
Both the FBI and the Kern County Sheriff's Department worked on the
investigation.
For the past two years, the Zastrows shared a two-bedroom apartment
with the teen's mother, the teen, now 14, and her two younger siblings
in Florida, the criminal complaint said. David Zastrow was the apartment
manager.
In February 2010, the mother decided to move to California, the
criminal complaint said. The teen became so upset that she ran away for a
couple of days and was found in an empty apartment in the complex where
they were living. It's believed that David Zastrow was providing her
with food and supplies, the criminal complaint said.
The family then moved and lived in an apartment in Bakersfield. David
Zastrow followed, and checked into a Motel 6 in Bakersfield on March
11, the document said. The motel is only a mile and a half from where
the teen's family was living.
On March 15, the teen's mother overheard the teen talking on the
phone with David Zastrow and heard him say, "You can get away," the
criminal complaint said. The mother questioned him about what he said,
but David Zastrow gave her an explanation that calmed her down,
according to the criminal complaint.
The next day, David Zastrow arranged for a cell phone and note to be
given to the teen, the criminal complaint said. The note said in part,
"Don't let her scare you into not leaving."
The teen ran away March 17, according to the document. An
investigation led law enforcement to the Sacramento-area hotel room,
where the teen was found uninjured and is being taken back to Kern
County to be reunited with her family, a Kern County Sheriff's
Department news release said.
Interviews with the teen's siblings and Florida neighbors indicated
there was an inappropriate relationship between David Zastrow and the
girl, the criminal complaint said. Sometimes the teen and David Zastrow,
who has been referred to as a nudist, would play games together while
naked and take showers together, according to the document. They also
exchanged long kisses.
Investigators also discovered that, about 10 years ago, another teen
had run away and lived with the Zastrows, the criminal complaint said.
That teen, who is now 23, met Christopher Zastrow at a nudist resort for
children, according to the complaint.
She ran away with the Zastrows when she was 14 and lived with them
for four years, according to the criminal complaint. The teen was
sexually active with Christopher Zastrow, and discovered they were being
recorded on video. The teen believed David Zastrow was responsible for
the recording, the criminal complaint said.
David Zastrow faces a potential sentence of life in prison if he is
convicted of kidnapping. It wasn't immediately clear what sentence
Christopher Zastrow might face if he's convicted.

Chris Zastrow, 21, is in sitting in Kern County jail facing a felony
charge of child stealing.

He and his father, David Zastrow, 51,
were arrested Tuesday night in Sacramento after a 14-year-old girl who's
been missing from her Bakersfield home since March 17 was found.

David is charged with traveling across state lines with the intent to engage
in illicit sexual conduct; enticing a minor; and kidnapping. But in a
jailhouse interview, Chris said he and his dad didn't kidnap the girl,
she went with them willingly.

Chris said there was no sexual activity between the girl and his father.
He added there was nothing going on between him and the girl either.

When asked why the teen
left with them, Chris explained that she was trying to get away from
her mom, and since she was going to leave with or without any help they
went with her to keep her safe.

According to Chris, the girl said she wanted to leave her mom
because there was abuse, such as neglect
and lack of food, in the home. He said the teen was trying to get to her
dad who lives in Colorado, and he and his father wanted to help.
The girl's mother, Cindy Abney, said about the alleged abuse, who said it's not true.

This isn't the first time the teen has left home. According to an affidavit from the U.S. District Court,
the girl ran away before her family was about to move to California.

However, the same affidavit also reports that neighbors in Florida said there
was an inappropriate relationship between David and the teen, and that
she was seen sitting on his lap in her underwear and a T-shirt kissing him.

Chris maintains that his dad wouldn't do anything like that.

After being found on Tuesday, the girl was taken by Child Protective Services
to be interviewed and evaluated.

It also looks like the Zastrow's harboring of a runaway isn't new behavior. The US District
Court affidavit said that nine years ago another 14 year old girl had
run away with the Zastrow's, and lived with them for four years.

David Zastrow appeared in Fresno Federal Court on Thursday.
