Cleveland OH ---- Police have a man and woman in custody after finding a
boy, 8, on the floor of an East 50th Street home with his hands and feet
bound behind his back with duct tape, and tied to a coffee table.


At about 1:15 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a 9-1-1 call
from a boy at a home at 3742 East 50th Street for a boy allegedly tied
to a table.
The 9-1-1 caller said his mother makes his sister tie his brother up
every night or his sister "gets beat."
Upon arrival, police said they were let into the home by a
15-year-old boy who said his 8-year-old brother was tied to a table.
Police discovered the boy on the floor with his hands and feet bound
behind his back with duct tape and a shoelace around his neck and feet,
tying him to the coffee table.
Police saw the boy's mother, Andreia Huffman, 37, who was asleep in a
bed across from the coffee table. They also saw Jason Dunikowski, 32,
who was asleep on a couch next to the coffee table.
Officers woke them up, released the 8-year-old from his restraints,
and questioned Huffman and Dunikowski.
Upon looking closer at the boy, police saw discoloration of the boy's
hands and feet, as if he had been tied up for some length of time.
They also observed other marks on his hands, feet and what appeared
to be a possible broken nose.
While police were talking to Huffman and Dunikowski, one of the other
children in the house spoke up and told police of how the 8-year-old
sustained his injuries.
Police officers then checked the other seven children in the home and
found them not to have any visible injuries.
Huffman and Dunikowski were arrested for domestic violence and
endangering children but they have not yet been charged.
All nine children were taken to the Department of Childen and Family
Services' Jane Edna Hunter Center.
The Cleveland Police Sex Crimes & Child Abuse Unit are
investigating.

Unthinkable cruelty and child abuse was discovered
inside a home located at 3742 E. 50th Street in Cleveland.
Police responded to a 911 call on Thursday and found an 8-year-old boy
hogtied to a coffee table inside the house.
The boy's 15-year-old brother made the horrifying call. "My little
brother is downstairs tied-up to a table and he's trying to get out,"
he said.
The teen then told the dispatcher that his mother makes his sister tie
the boy up every night or else his "sister gets beat."
According to police reports, the 8-year-old's hands and feet were bound
with duct-tape behind his back.
The report also reveals that shoelaces were tied around his neck and
feet and that his skin was "severely discolored" indicating he may have
been tied up for some time.
Authorities say the boy had a broken nose, which his mother, 37-year-old
Andreia Huffman, blamed on her daughter.
But the other children said their mother did it. In fact, they told
police that, Huffman "repeatedly slammed his face into a wall."
Police say a crack on the wall matches the exact wounds on the child.
Huffman and her husband, the boy's father, 32-year-old Jason Dunikowski,
were arrested for child endangering and domestic violence.
The Cuyahoga County Children and Family Services says they have only
received one referral for physical abuse at the house that was
determined to be "unsubstantiated," since the family returned to
Cleveland from Kentucky within the last few years.
The couple has no other record of alleged criminal activity here in
Ohio, but there are multiple records out of Fayette County, KY. In
2002, Huffman was charged with 40 counts of Theft by Deception for
passing bad checks.
She is currently wanted on a bench warrant for failing to pay
restitution.
Huffman and Dunikowski married on September 11, 2000 and have 5 children
together.
Four other children from Andreia's previous relationships also lived at
the house in Cleveland.
Next door neighbor, Larry Richard's says, he didn't see or hear any
signs of abuse, but the children did often "seem scared."
The couple is currently locked up in the Cuyahoga County county jail.
Police say charges are forthcoming, although none have been filed.
According to a spokesperson with the Cuyahoga County Department of
Children and Family Services, all nine children were placed together in
the same two-parent foster home.
In a mission statement, a spokesperson said, "The Department of
Children and Family Services is focused on the children's medical,
physical and behavioral needs. The Department is working closely with
the Cleveland Police."
Cleveland Police Sex Crimes & Child Abuse Unit is investigating.

Charges have been filed against the parents of an
8-year-old boy found hogtied to a coffee table inside his home.

Officers were called to 3742 E. 50th Street in Cleveland Thursday
morning.

The child's 15-year-old brother called 911. During the call he said, "My
little brother is downstairs tied-up to a table and he's trying to get
out."

The older brother then told the dispatcher that his mother makes his
sister tie the boy up every night or else his "sister gets beat."

According to police reports, the 8-year-old's hands and feet were bound
with duct-tape behind his back.

Cleveland police say, "Justin Dunikowski and Andreia Huffman
have been charged with endangering children."

All nine children found living inside the home have been placed in
foster care.

On Friday, the little boy's aunt spoke to reporters of a local TV station.

During the interview, the aunt claimed that her brother and his wife
have been abusing their children for years. "To me, they should never
have their kids back and they should be locked up."

The woman, who asked not to be identified, said, "I don't believe in
abusing kids, that to me is not the way you're supposed to raise a kid."

The aunt says her brother is the father of five of the children inside
the home. She says the abuse allegations aren't the least bit
surprising.

She also claimed to have witnessed the boy's mother hitting her teenage
son in front of her. The aunt says she even placed an anonymous phone
call to Children Services, but to no avail.

"We were at Berea playground. The fork that you stab a hot dog with,
[mother] threw it at him and stabbed him...and that's when I called."

The aunt says her mother also called Children Services but the children
were never removed from the home. "It felt like I let [kids] them down.
Even though we called, nothing has ever been done. It made me sick."

The Department of Children and Family Services says the couple and their
children moved from Kentucky to Cleveland a few years ago. During that
time, they have only received one phone call about physical abuse which
was determined to be "unsubstantiated."

32-year-old Jason Dunikowski and 37-year-old Andreia Huffman will be in a
Cuyahoga County courtroom Monday morning.

A Cleveland OH couple accused of severely abusing their children has been
indicted on nearly 200 counts.

37-year old Andreia Huffman and
32-year old Jason Dunikowski were indicted Thursday on 196 counts
including kidnapping, endangering children and felonious assault for how
the two treated their 8-year old son and 17-year old daughter.

Prosecutors
say Huffman and Dunikowski forced the boy to stand facing the wall with
his hands clasped behind his head during the course of an entire day as
a form of punishment. Whiling standing facing the wall, Huffman would
repeatedly hit him in the back of the head. The victim suffered a
broken nose from smacking the wall. At night, the defendants hogged tied
the victim’s feet and hands with duct tape and then tied him to the
living room coffee table. Huffman is also accused of abusing her
daughter by hitting her in the face and in the back of the head with a
taped wood-like paddle. Prosecutors say Huffman also used the piece of
wood to strike the boy in the back of the legs and buttocks.

The
196 count indictment includes: 180 counts of kidnapping for both
defendants; 8 counts of endangering children against Huffman; 2 counts
of endangering children against both defendants; and 6 counts of
felonious assault against Huffman.

A husband and wife who abused their 8-year-old son by hog-tying him to a coffee table with duct tape found out Tuesday just how long they will spend in jail.



The judge came down hard on Jason Dunikowski and Andreia Huffman, both of whom pleaded guilty to abusing the child.
Prosecutors say that Dunikowski, 32, and Huffman, 37, forced their son to stand facing a wall with his hands behind his head from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. They say this went on for six months.
Huffman also repeatedly pushed the child's face into the wall, breaking his nose.
It was at night that the boy was hog-tied to the coffee table with duct tape. The couple abused their now-18-year-old daughter as well.
Dunikowski agreed to serve 15 years as part of a plea agreement, but the judge gave him 26 years. Huffman, meanwhile, agreed to serve 17 years behind bars, but the judge doubled that to 34 years.
Neither parent will be eligible for parole.
