New Castle DE ---- New Castle County police say a 3-year-old boy has
been abducted at gunpoint from his father's home.
Police say the 24-year-old father was awoken early today by three
gunmen beating him with the butt of a handgun. The child and his mother
disappeared. Investigators believe the mother may be involved in the
abduction.Delaware State Police have issued an Amber Alert
for 3-year-old Brian Kenney.The mother and son
disappeared from the Murray Manor Trailer Park on 6th Avenue.No
photo was available of the child, but he was described as blond,
blue-eyed, 36 inches tall and 45 pounds, last seen wearing SpongeBob or
Super Mario Brothers pajamas.The mother, Ashlie Stumbers,
24, is 5-feet 4-inches tall, weighs 135 pounds and has brown hair and
blue eyes, Navarro said.Police ask anyone with information

Shortly before 2 p.m. today, 3-year-old Brian Kenney walked out a door
at New Castle County police headquarters with an officer and was scooped
up into the waiting arms of his father after nearly a 12-hour absence.
The smiling toddler, dressed in a hooded red-white-and-navy striped
shirt, started pointing out the new injuries on his 24-year-old father’s
face and head, incurred at the hands of three gunmen since the two of
them last saw each other. The boy was abducted from their home early today.His
grandmother and aunt, meanwhile, circled the boy, expressing how much
they had missed him.Then, the reunited father and son and
their family dashed off to a white SUV and took off without comment.The
boy’s mother 24-year-old Ashlie L. Stumbers, was released after being
questioned by police.“The investigation is far from over,”
New Castle County police spokesman Senior Cpl. Trinidad Navarro said.
“We still have a lot of followup work to do. We have to be able to prove
the elements of the offense in order to charge a person with a crime,
and that’s what we’re investigating.”The whereabouts of
the three assailants who assaulted the boy’s father is still not known, Just
before noon, police tracked Stumbler to a house in the 700 block of E.
Fifth St. in Wilmington and recovered the boy unharmed.More
than a dozen FBI agents from Wilmington and Baltimore, specializing in
missing persons cases, had worked hand-in-hand with county officers
lending their expertise.An Amber Alert, issued after the
boy was abducted, was lifted at 1:03 p.m., said state police spokesman
Sgt. Walter Newton.The incident had unfolded about 2:20
a.m. at a residence in the Murray Manor Trailer Park in Stanton where
the father was physically beaten by three men with the butt of their
guns while he slept.The beating caused Kenney to pass out.He
awoke to find his son’s mother, Ashlie Stumbers, missing along with his
son.According to Family Court records, Kenney had taken
out a protection from abuse order against Stumbler in March.A
warrant was issued for her arrest April 16.Navarro said
those issues have since been resolved.Anyone with
information on the whereabouts of the three assailants is asked to call

Delaware state police say they have found a
three-year-old boy who was abducted from his father's home overnight.
The child, Brian Kenney, was found with his mother, 24-year-old
Ashlie Stumbers, in Wilmington, about noon today.
A police spokesman says they were questioning the mother and more
details would be released as they became available.

Kenney had been reported missing early this morning by his father, who
has custody of the child. Police say he told them he had been awakened
about 2am when three male intruders began beating him.
He told police he passed out and when he awoke the boy was gone.
Police had suspected the mother may have been involved in the
abduction. She had stayed at the father's house last night and was also
gone when he awoke
