Re: KAITLYN NOVAK - 17 yo - Baldwin ( S of Pittsburgh) PA
A missing girl from Baldwin was found safe Wednesday morning by police.
Baldwin Police Chief Mike Scott confirmed that 17-year-old Kaitlyn Novak has been found.
She was spotted by a police officer in Arnold this morning while talking
on her cell phone and was then transported to Baldwin.
She arrived at the Baldwin Police Station around 11:15 a.m.
Chief Scott said they are going over her cell phone records and asking
the Novak questions about where she has been since leaving her parent's
house Friday.
Police said she spoke to friends and relatives yesterday and she told
them she was fine and to please leave her alone.
Her father arrived at the police station around 11:45 a.m.
According to Chief Scott, she posted on Facebook that she was having
problems at home. She went to her girlfriend's house in Brentwood. After
leaving, she was walking down a street and three guys in a car asked
her if she wanted a ride. She accepted, but would not tell police who
they are or what happened during that time.
Police are trying to find out who those three are individuals are and
charges could be filed.
On Tuesday afternoon, her father received a text message saying simply,
"Help." The message led him and authorities to believe that she was in
danger, so police tried to track the location of her cell phone.
"We attempted to locate where the phone was at unsuccessfully. We were
able to retrieve her text messages and her cell phone records for the
last two days. We've also been in contact with the FBI and they've
joined the investigation," Chief Scott said.
