A Vacaville man facing murder charges stemming from
the death of an infant last year will return to Solano County Superior
Court in August.Superior Court Judge R. Michael Smith on
Monday set 9 a.m. Aug. 10 for a further readiness conference and
possible scheduling of a preliminary hearing for 27-year-old murder and
child abuse defendant Angel Sanchez (also known as Sanchez-Vasquez) of
Vacaville.According to Vacaville police, Sanchez was
arrested in October following lengthy investigation into the July 20
death of 4-month-old Nicholas Kelly of Vacaville, whom Sanchez
reportedly had been caring for.Police investigators said
an examination of the child indicated that he may have succumbed to
traumatic head injuries, possibly the result of violent shaking.Sanchez
has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is held at Solano County Jail
on $1 million bail.
