An Amber Alert was issued early Sunday evening for a man who is alleged
to have abducted his 1-month-old child.

Police are looking for
30-year-old Darrin O'Brien, saying he took his son, Darrin O'Brien, Jr.
from his mother's home around 9 p.m. Sunday and fled on foot.

O'Brien is
described as a 5’9” white male weighing approximately 160 pounds with
black hair and hazel eyes. His hair is shaved in a zigzag design, and
he is wearing wearing a white tank top with red lettering, blue jeans
and Timberland work boots.

The infant is a
one-month-old white male with black hair and dark blue eyes, and was
last seen wearing a light blue short-sleeve one piece outfit with white
block letters on the front. He was wrapped in a receiving blanket.

O’Brien drives
a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass 4-door sedan, light green/teal in color with
Connecticut plates 782XUE.

A search for a one-month old boy taken from his home Sunday night
ended about 2:30 a.m. this morning when his father turned himself to
police.Darrin O'Brien, 30, had taken his son during an argument
with the boy's mother, prompting authorities to issue an Amber Alert.
Authorities were also concerned about a statement O'Brien had made,
implying he might harm the child, said Sgt. Kevin Kinahan saidThe
boy, who was examined at an area hospital, was unharmed during the
incident.O'Brien, was charged with risk of injury to a minor,
interfering with an officer and second-degree breach of peace.He was arraigned today in Superior Court in Bantam. He was released
from custody after posting a $75,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to
court June 29.O'Brien and the boy's mother have had a tumultuous
relationship for the past three years. O'Brien had made a comment to the
mother, implying that he might harm the baby if the couple could not be
together, Kinahan said.The couple had been living together in Winsted
up until last week when the boy's mother was arrested for allegedly
assaulting O'Brien. He agreed to stay someplace else.O'Brien
returned to the home Sunday to celebrate Father's
Day when the couple got into an argument. O'Brien picked up the
child and left the house about 9 p.m. without clothing, diapers or
formula for the baby, said Kinahan."Initially he started walking
around town and then called a family member to come and pick him up,"
said Kinahan. "During that time the police department did make contact
with him and said he would turn himself in."O'Brien drove by the
police department. He panicked when the saw police cars and left, police
said. He eventually turned himself in to Torrington
police.
