Gulfport MI ---- A man charged with felony child abuse is
accused of choking his girlfriend’s infant son, a police spokesman said.Police
arrested Kyle Benjamin Jackson, 21, of Gulfport, on Tuesday after
receiving a call from Garden Park Medical Center on Community Road.The
baby, a little more than three months old, had been taken to the
hospital for breathing problems, Sgt. Adam Cooper said. Investigators
determined Jackson, the mother’s boyfriend, was taking care of the baby
at the time of the alleged incident, Cooper said. Police arrested
Jackson at the hospital.
The baby was transferred to an out-of-state hospital for
treatment, Cooper said. No other details were available
Wednesday.Justice Court Judge Diane Ladner set bond at $100,000.The
Harrison County jail docket shows Jackson’s bond remained the same
after an initial court appearance Wednesday.Felony child abuse
carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
