"Toddler John Doe" - 2 yo - Fort Wayne IN

A Fort Wayne man has been arrested after a 2-year-old was found to have head injuries after being in his care.
According to a news release, officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department were called to a local hospital around 10 p.m. Wednesday to investigate the possible neglect of a child. The child's father told police his son, suffering from head injuries, had been brought to the emergency room by Kamal El Adnani, who the man said is the boyfriend of the child's mother.
The child's mother contacted the father after learning their son was being taken to the hospital.
Adnani was taken to police headquarters for questioning, where, according to the release, he told officers he had been taking care of the child and a sibling from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at a home in the 1000 block of East State Boulevard. Adnani said he did not know what had happened to the child and had been with him the whole time, except for a few moments. The child had fallen asleep and didn't respond when Adnani tried to wake him. He then took the child to the emergency room.
Adnani was arrested and taken to the Allen County Jail on a charge of neglect of a dependent, a Class B felony. The child remained in critical condition Thursday afternoon.
